I don’t have account to cinemageddon, can you tell me names of the Donner films.
Noidan Kirot is not on DVD in here, but I think I can get you the Noita Palaa Elämään DVD, I’ll PM you soon… RE Valkoinen Peura, the song or “joiku” as the Sami people call their traditional singing is composed by Einar Englund, but it is not known who did the lyrics, Suomen Kansallisfilmografia book 4 just states anonymous. Anyways the singer is soprano Tii Niemelä. The other song in the film is traditional psalm, original lyrics are by Johan Olof Wallin and the Finnish translation is by Simo Korpela, arrangement is by Einar Englund. The psalm was originaly issued in 1786. Here’s some info on Sami people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_people And an drunken example of Joiku: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd6wONcS_a4 -------------------- |

Whoops! I forgot that not just anyone can view those pages! The movies are ...
Naisenkuvia (1970) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138645/ Perkele! Kuvia Suomesta (1971) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066215/ Män kan inte våldtas (1978) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077968/ Very interesting that Englund composed that song as it so very unlike the score in general. I wish the rest of it was like that! I thought those songs were quite haunting. Not sure how I got the idea that you had said that Noidan Kirot has a DVD release in Finland. I must have dreamed it! My bad. But all's well ... like I said, I found a copy. -------------------- |

Män kan inte våldtas is not very good in my opinion. It’s like feminist take on rape revenge genre. Base on novel by Märta Tikkanen. According to her she got the idea for the book from newspaper article about a man who was raped by a woman in Danmark (or somewhere). The original title of the book and the film is “Man can’t be raped” in English. Unfortunately the Donner’s film is a bit spineless… Actually I remember reading that even Donner has said if he would do the film now he would do it more shockingly. Still according to Märta Tikkanen some hard core feminists marched out screening in Germany when they heard the film was directed by a man…
Perkele! Kuvia Suomesta is a very nice (shock) documentary about Finland. I like it quite a lot… But I don’t know does is work well for foreigners. Naisenkuvia is probably the best title to star if you have to choose from these three. IMDB has good review and plot summary. -------------------- |
