Some years ago I had this daydream about a book on Nordic genre cinema. I would be cool to have writers from every country to make chapter (or two) on their native cinema. Project like this would get a grant for sure
Anyways, so what else is there other than Häxan, Reptilicus and Dværgen made in Denmark? -------------------- |

Nothing. A barren land. Dead. Where tumbleweeds live. And we like it that way.

About every film Lars von Trier has done. Denmark even has two post-apocalyptic movies; ELEMENT OF CRIME and ET SKUD FRA HJERTET (by Kristian Levring). Some of the Dogma films are good too, I quite like Levring's THE KIND IS ALIVE.

A little known fact:
32 of Edgar Wallace's movies are in fact produced by a dane!!! Rialto Film was founded by Constantin Philipsen i 1897 in Copenhagen... In 1955 his son Constantin Preben Philipsen carried on his fathers company as Rialto Film Preben Philipsen A/S... This company also produced the Winnetou-series, My Name is Nobody, A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe, Killer (w. Jean Gabin and Fabio Testi), Flatfoot in Africa, Uppercut, The Serpent (Yul Brynner, Henry Fonda) a.m.o. Another little known fact: Ole Olsen (Founder of Nordisk Film in 1906 (the worlds oldest still existing operating film studio)) did the first 'mondo'-movie called Løvejagten (The Lion Hunt) in 1907... He bought 2 old lions, a goat, a horse, some palmtrees and took these + a filmcrew and 2 actors and sailed to a little island called Elleore in Roskilde fjord... You guess the rest: The goat was killed by the lions and both lions and the horse were killed by actor Sergeant Viggo Larsen!! The movie was a huge succes!!! Ole Olsen died in 1943 and was buried in a barrow which dates back to the bronzeage... The tomb contains the ashes of him and his wife, a part of his art-collection and is until the 5. of october, 2143 sealed from the public! Pictures from the tomb of Ole Olsens /D -------------------- |

VAMPYR (1932) was of course directed by Danish director Carl Theodor Dreyer.

Yes, I have. It's available for dl from the guy who made it. It's a pretty cool flick! The guy behind it used to do a fanzine (I forget the title). -------------------- 2019 AD. The only blog that survived the nuclear holocaust: EN LEJEMORDER SER TILBAGE
