 that's not a sell-thru.........it looks like a well preserved "new" rental release ,it has an offical key video seal...the labels look spot on and sometimes the distribution houses sent more than one copy to the video clubs(i know this was evident in holland), and that's probably an extra copy that was aquired for rental that just was never displayed for rental..........

i would say it's in ONE OF A KIND condition... :)

also, not always, but many sell-thrus i've seen from greece r on RAKS brand cassettes, as well as THOMPSON brand name cassettes with different color flip lids....., and ususally do NOT accompany a spine label.....

NOTE: some rentals also were produced on both THOMPSON and RAKS...so it's not an exact science....but as u know TIM sell-thrus r on very light weight cassettes....

thanks for clearing that up vh.
i didnt think it was sell thru, i just havnt come across an ex rental so perfectly preserved before :D B)

a great score indeed plus not a bad little movie neither :)

This is 100% an ex-rental tape.

Some videoshops like "Video Memory" in the centre of Athens used to sell the ex-rentals cleaned & sealed by the shop!

Another possibility is that this tape was ready to go to the rental industry but it never found its way so it is actually like brand-new! Look the tape itself, if it looks new this is the situation...

You can find sell-thru tapes in Greece only from newer labels like New Star or those Cinehollywood re-releases by Videoteca Studios (they had their rights for Greece back in the 80s)

:D thanks cinehound

the vhs does look like it is new under the wrapping, certainly there are no rental stickers or marks where they were maybe removed!

it looks like i have got a brand new never before used ex rental vhs

i would agree as it still has the KEY VIDEO shrink wrap, which wouldn't have that if a video club did the skrink wrapping, they r not gonin to print/manufacture key video shrink wrapping to re-sell a used cassette , they will just use plain inexpensive shrink wrap,........besides the sleeve doesn't look like it was stored creased down the middle of the spine...as with most greek rentals............and the labels and such look very clean and bright..........

i think which ever video club original owned that tape, they were sent 2 of them by the distributor...and the video club just used one for rental and then sold the other NEW one outright, and who ever bought it kept it in unused condition....

just as a side note...i got a an unused BEST1 dutch rental of SWEET SIXTEEN although it wasen't shrink wrapped like that. the sleeve was MINT and tape(it was on a BASF brand cassette, german brand)-which many labels used for rentals being that they were an 80s company..,..no stickers the cassette looked brand new, and the person i aquired the tape from, his grand parents had a video shop from the 80s, and they were sent 2 of those BEST1 SWEET SIXTEEN tapes, one was used for rental and the other was never used and i bought it........

so it is indeed plausable....... :)

either way TIM great score and KEY VIDEO is a great collectable label......
