This weekend had the change to watch Il Vichingo Venuto dal Sud stared Lando Buzzanca and Pamela Tiffin. It's about an Italian man who goes to Copenhagen to work and there meets the love of his life. They get marry and then he finds out tha she made porno films before meet him. So he left her but he's still inlove with her. Then he tries to find out if he is right or wrong for judging his wife's past life.
The film perfectly shows the difference between two cultures (Italian and Nordic). While Italian culture refuse that open sexuallity and a woman who has that life style is a whore Nordic culture (Danish at least) is agree with it. Everybody can have sex with everybody and nobody care or judge.
I can assure you Italian culture is that way (Argentinian too) so I wonder if Nordic culture was that way in late 60's early 70's and if today it's the same way. Or is it just the movie that exaggerates that matter?
BTW, the movie is a fair-good commedy with a touch of drama (because of the sexually matter).-

Uhh, buddy, the 60's and 70's was a long time ago! It's very different now.
If you're in a relationship you don't fuck around with other people. However, if you're not in a relationship you don't have to actually get engaged or married in order to have sex, you can be a 'swinger' without society looking at you like you're doing something wrong. A woman isn't seen as a whore just because she has sex with someone she isn't married to. But in a relationship, no.

I have a female friend who had an Italian fiance and lived in Italy more than 20 years ago. And she tell me that in the village where she lived it was common that when a woman got married after her wedding night she would hang out the sheets so everyone could see the proof that she had really been a virgin (i.e. the blood on the sheets). Well, Denmark was never like that!

Denmark was the first country to legalise porn by the way. 1971, afaim. A friend of mine published a film mag called eXtase and the latest issue (#3/2007) has a chapter about 'Swinging Copenhagen' in the early 70's written by Jack Stevenson (in English). It's gonna come out as a book this year (or maybe it's already out, I'm not sure). Very informative.

So this is the main defference. Here It's still that way, I mean, it's seen as a bad thing, she's an "easy woman". On the contrary, a man who has lots of lovers is a "macho".

Thanks for your answer Jack J, now have more clear my mind.-

I hear that Argentina is even the most 'European' country in South America, so are the other countries even more, eh, old-fashioned in this regard?

Jack

Argentina (mostly Buenos Aires) is labeled like that because of the Italian and Spanish inmigrants from early 20th century. Also buildings architecture is similar to European countries because of that. But the macho matter in for the whole continent (From Mexico to Argentina) and I don't think this is going to change for a long time.
