Title: Flying Superboy?

Member-X - April 16, 2011 03:42 PM (GMT)
What can you peeps tell me about a movie called Flying Superboy? I think there was some discussion about it here on cine, but naturally the search engine's not functioning and I'm not gonna go through all the old topics.

I received this on dvdr from Henrik Larsen (Ed Larsen on this forum) yesterday. The print came off a Dutch VHS. And the dvdr has an added trailer for GOLDEN QUEEN'S COMMANDO.

Looks like we're talking about one of the THREE SUPERBOYS series.

Jack J - May 15, 2011 03:38 PM (GMT)
My friend Henrik Larsen spent some time trying to sort out these films a while back and this is the info he came up with:

He says he reckons THE FLYING SUPERBOY is related to the THREE SUPERGUYS series as Robert Widmark plays the same kind of character as in that series:

There are three official SUPERGUYS films + two un-official entries. The first un-official film preceeds the series (and do notice that via the German title the film is actually related to the series on the German market! "Teufelskerle" = Superguys)

1. ZWEI TEUFELSKERLE AUF DEM WEG ZUR GRÜNEN HÖLLE (1974). Aka AMAZONS FOR TWO ADVENTURERS.
-No Turkish involvement but Ernst Hofbauer who co-directed the film also co-directed the three official films. And "Robert Widmark" and Wolf Goldan play almost the same characters as they do in the first Superguys film. Widmark is in ALL the films so there's a connection.

2. ZWEI TEUFELSKERLE AUF DEM WEG INS KLOSTER (1975). Aka THE THREE SUPERGUYS.
-German-Turkish production. Hofbauer is co-director and Widmark & Goldan play the main-characters.

3. THE FLYING SUPERBOY (1975) aka BAS BELASI.
-Turkish production. Widmark plays the same kind of character again.

4. ZWEI TEUFELSKERLE AUF DEM WEG NACH ISTANBUL (1976). Aka THE THREE SUPERGUYS STRIKE AGAIN.
-Cuneyt Arkin is in this one.

5. DREI TEUFELSKERLE MACHEN ALLES NIEDER (1977). Aka THREE SUPERGUYS IN THE SNOW.

- Arkin was also in one of the THREE FANTASTIC SUPERMEN films (SUPERMENLER/3 SUPERMEN AGAINST GODFATHER) but other than that there's no connection between the two series.

Kurt, "M" was a fictive character from a Fritz Lang film. He wasn't real.
Besides, I don't think he collected Turkish films.

Great to get some more information. Was searching for this movie and found this thread.
I have number 5 on Jack´s list THREE SUPERGUYS IN THE SNOW on greek VHS.
Also saw the german/turkish VHS of Bas Belasi a while ago on ebay. Too bad I didn´t snatched it then.

In Istanbul I bought a wonderful original poster of Bas Belasi....if you go to Kadikoy (asian side of Istanbul) you'll find a lot of second hand shops wth hundred of posters...
