Title: GIALLO: Salvare la faccia (1969) (Renato Polselli)
Description: Rossano Brazzi
Metalian - December 10, 2009 12:53 AM (GMT)
I found a spanish release of this giallo:

I think this looks super rare.
IMDB doesn't give much info:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067631/The cover looks like it's made of different bits of paper glued together: The title, the pictures, the cast bellow, etc. But it looks as if it was originally released that way.
The top part was written with a marker.
Anyone has any info?

Wow! Absolutely stunning artwork. B)
Great find, Metalian!!!!! It's so nice to see the stuff you find!
WANYON - December 10, 2009 10:16 AM (GMT)
That would make at least 2 Spanish video releases of it i know of then, the other being on a different label with pink-bordered sleeve (our fellow Cinepup Jose (aka 'MARIO BAVA') has the Betamax version of the other release and is maybe the person to ask about this one also...)
Nice tape though. Interested in a trade for it or you after cold hard cash? ;P
Metalian - December 10, 2009 01:03 PM (GMT)
It seems like it's a real rarity.
Even Jose is marveled by it and would like a copy of it...
The fact that Polselli is listed also adds to its rarity.
I'd like to sell it, but I'll be hearing offers.
I won't let it go too cheap, that's for sure.
Metalian - December 10, 2009 03:58 PM (GMT)
THE TAPE IS RESERVED NOW...
I got a nice offer from a member here :)

lol...yeah "i wonderrrrrr..."...
I am surprised nobody has snapped up Jose's tape of it also as he has a rare alternate Spanish tape version (Betamax unfortunately though)...

Yet ANOTHER Spanish VHS tape of "SALVARE LA FACCIA" (aka SALVAR LA CARA) is on Ebay as i write this!!! That makes 4 known video releases to date worldwide, all very rare, and 3 of which hail from Spain!!!
Crazy!
We have a saying here in the UK about buses that applies to the Spanish tape of this film it would seem too:
"You wait forever for a bus to come along...and then 3 come along all at once!"

One user on CG was absolutely thrilled about the movie. A quote from him:
| QUOTE |
| I've watched it by now and have to say this jumped to the top of my list of favorit gialli although I can't really say why! But I loved it so thanks once again! |
There's an english dvd-r rip over at CG.
Us poster I think?
WANYON - December 12, 2009 01:43 AM (GMT)
The American edit, was virtually never spoken about until i looked around for it and found one DVD-R seller who had it on his website! I had a friend of mine buy a copy from him and send it me and my friend then started selling it on his own DVD-R website and within a few weeks it started popping up all over the place like a hyperactive rabbit! lol
The American tape release was very rare as it was only available for 12 months and then deleted. The print used for the transfer belongs to an Australian cinema print collector, although i think the transfer could have been done far better justice...still nice to have though. Ted Kneeland filmed some extra footage for the American version and only the Italian TV version and the 3 Spanish tape versions represent the original version (although, the Spanish version is slightly cut and the American, to be honest, does not veer too far off course from the original)...

Whoa! Really nice sleeve. What catched my eyes most though was the peculiar name on the compny that released it. BALDIE Home Video. :P
I believe it would fit nicely in many ageing video collectors homes, not least this ones. The hairs on my head is thinning out like the tapes in my collection. :P

Haha!!!
Mine too, J...
Reminds me of this conversation in a classroom studying the hair loss in man:
Professor: So what we've discovered is that the receding hairline at the front of the head is from "thinking". So one to "thinks a lot" will tend to have less hair in the front of their scalp.
The bald spot in the back of scalp notes a high testosterone level that converts to d.h.t. and makes one a great lover. So routinely we find males with bald spots in the back of their heads to be better lovers than ones with hair there.
Student: Professor! I have balding both on the front... And on the back!
Professor: Yes, sadly for you, that just means that you just think you're a great lover.

Man, you shot me down badly. Now I'll start getting performance anxiety... :P
Kenneth M - December 28, 2010 01:31 AM (GMT)
It's okay, Jönas. I'm sure those 12 year old girls will still have just as much anxiety as you.
  Just kidding, my friend. ;)
Apparently in about 10 years the UK's stem cell research will give them the pioneering opportunity to give us real hair. By then, I'm pretty confident people will have to put on sunglasses when talking to me in a well lit room.

Ha ha, I bet they would but you can keep those to yourself man, 'preciate the offer though. Hags in their late thirties is more my league, even though beauties in their mid tweenties more fit my preferances. ;)
Well the best thing with becoming thin haired early is that you realize how nice it is without it. I wouldn't want to grow my hair again even it I cold. Keep it a mm or two is enought. Who want to look like a girlyboy anyway? :P

Obviously I also prefer the betamax one too, it's prettier and older, it's a first release... But being betamax it has less value among collectors around the world.. This is something never understood 'cause betamax tapes are first releases and because of that should be the rarest but VHS is the one that rules.. The other vhs i've found is much more rare in my opinion 'cause never saw it before, the other ones only one time but this one and it's ultrarare for that... Hope I've been helpful...

thanks for that mario.
yes i love beta tapes.
and i would far rather have a beta of a tape than a vhs.
i consider beta rarer.
well betas where not around that long
and anyway i think betas just look nicer.
and i think the picture quality of betas are better than vhs.

Interesting, there's at least two releases on Baldie. (I wonder if the owner of the company had any hair?)

This one is beautiful. But defenitely, this is not a giallo.

Well, i think it has enough ingredients to be classified as an giallo. Only have the Spanish tape of this one so haven't ever watched the movie with English subs. ;)

This is a discussion we're having at exhumedmovies. pure gialli and impure gialli. I don't even consider this one an impure giallo.-
