Title: FOKION BOGRIS NEW FILM
Description: Sick, Sleazy & Gory Greek Exploitation
cinehound - August 27, 2006 08:50 AM (GMT)
Great news !!
Greek independent director/writer/cinematographer/producer Fokion Bogris
has started a new film. Scenario is ready and he shot a few scenes already,
but stopped in August as he faced a few troubles.
I talked with him about the film, it will be a pure exploitation, much different
than his other two features, with a sick vigillante plot, sleaze, a brutal rape,
and tons of gore !!
I read the very first script version, looks extraodinaire...
I wish difficulties won't stop him and he'll manage to release it, it will be his best effort so far, I'm positive about that.
The title on the scenario I got in my dirty hands was BATSOS GEMATOS MISOS
but it's just a working title...
You could visit his webpage to watch clips from his work and if you like please support & help him with his new plan:

i've seen a film of fokion bogris that was RETURN OF THE BASTARDS!a independent film full of action.i bought it from a italian site a couple of years ago english subtitled.original DVD!
cinehound - January 19, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
RETURN OF THE BASTARDS was a great sequel to THE BASTARDS, a strong Greek action gem from the 80s. It had an official DVD release here by Emerald Video.
Fokion Bogris -the man is one of our members- is the best Greek independent director today...Instead of arthouse & political trash he loves action, exploitation & horror. I had an e-mail from him recently about something new he makes, I'll ask him and I'll let you know.

Hello Miltos & crew:
I am back to share some more information on my movie and its making.

PLOT SUMMARY:
Esteban, a cop, is kicked out of the police force after avenging the murder of his wife by a local drug lord. He leaves the island of Crete and travels to Athens in order to start a new life. His wheelchair-bound uncle offers to accommodate him. Isolated, broke and unable to get a job, he is living in poverty. A chance for a new beginning comes when police chief Stavru offers Esteban an unofficial job: he has to clean up the streets and wipe out the two crime syndicates that control the whole city. He is hesitant but decides to take the job as it seems to
be his only option.

MORE INFO:
The movie is being made on a very, very tight budget so many of the cast and crew members are not getting paid and doing it just for the fun. CATHARSIS is a working title and I am not sure if it will be kept or not, the initial title was COP FULL OF HATE but it was soon dropped Undecided I started shooting the movie on September 2nd and it will take me at least a few months more to complete it.... That's what happens when your budget is low :D

You can find more information about me and my movie at my blog

Your new films looks great! And the presentation on your blog is great too! Very nice idea the wonderful stills...and the English/Greek language text!
I wish the best to you and the movie !!
cinehound - December 8, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
Oh...and wonderful head too :P
lt79 - December 8, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
Thanks for all you great words! You mean the head in the still above?
WANYON - December 8, 2007 08:58 PM (GMT)
Fair play...it looks great!
I can't wait!
But what about that RAMBO-esque film you were doing when we last chatted?
lt79 - December 9, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
Hey! That was meant to be a short. Was thinking of turning it into a feature but decided to concentrate in this movie which I have been trying to make for the last 2 years and a half! Perhaps I should make that one next in order to cash-in on the upcoming RAMBO film? :D

That sounds like the perfect plan! Not only are you experimenting with inserts ala Bruno Mattei, etc. but you would also be experimenting with that time-old tradition of 'cashing in' with a low-rent rip-off that would, nonetheless, be tremendous exploitation fun!
The new RAMBO, judging from the trailer, looks like it is gonna be a great down-and-dirty exploitation film done the old way...with lashings of mindless violence and action and laced with some extreme Gianetto De Rossi-style splatter!
But i am sure a Fokion Bogris RAMBO rip-off, judging by what i saw of YOUR teaser, would be a great low-budgeter...especially if you amp up the splatter and bad taste sex and violence quota!
Go for it!
Aymanoglu - December 10, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
I congratulate you my friend! It's looking very very good! And I'm not just being nice either - I would love to see the finished product, and in a way have been waiting since you showed me a few minutes that you had filmed a long long time ago. I recall commenting that it reminded me of the "vigilante" style flicks Bronson made! Even the lead actor looks like a Bronson - if you squint the right way.
Keep it coming - with the heads too

The upcoming RAMBO is probably my most-anticipated film of all times! Stallone's career is taking off again thanks to ROCKY BALBOA, this one and his upcoming DEATH WISH remake! Seems that the vigilante theme is becoming popular again with all these revenge movies coming from Hollywood lately! When I started CATHARSIS in 2005 nobody could predict that revenge films would make a comeback! Now I know I was in the right track.
Ayman, that scene I had showed you will not be included in the finished film, I am going to shoot it again. There is lots of footage I had filmed that I am not going to use. Instead, I am shooting everything all over again, in order to make sure the scenes are as well-made as possible.
cheers!
ONARFILMS - December 10, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
Hey Lefteris!
Now, with your new look you remind me of Sid Haig!
I hope you like the man...
And is Stallone making a Death Wish remake, too??
But the DW2 remake is called Death Sentence, with Kavin Bacon...
Let them come as I'm a strong vigilante fan!!
lt79 - December 10, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
Sid Haig? Am I that ugly? :D
I am very excited about Stallone directing and starring in a DW remake. I think the Kevin Bacon film was another version of Brian Garfield's book and not an actual remake of DW- by the way was that one released in theatrically here in Greece? Hope you like the pictures Bill!
A.N. - December 11, 2007 12:05 PM (GMT)
When I read the name Stallone, my first thought goes to Telis by now ... Am I a little deranged?
lt79 - December 11, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
Telis, he is in the movie as well, playing a corrupt minister. He has sex scenes too. I like both Telis & Sly! :D
ajji - December 24, 2007 07:45 AM (GMT)
I just saw this thread and...OH MY GOD! your movie stills look way cool. good luck with your shoot, and hope to be seeing the finished product soon. B)
lt79 - December 24, 2007 11:33 AM (GMT)
Hey guys... first of all merry xmas and happy holidays to you all! :-X
And thanks for your words AJ!
Thought I should post a couple more stills. These are from yesterday's shoot. In this scene,a a mob guy threatens an old, wheelchair-bound man to give him information.

The old man doesn't know what the mobster is talking about so he says he has no idea and gets thrown off the rooftop of the tall building along with his wheelchair.

We had some trouble with neighbors who we managed to wake up- the falling chair with the dummy landed on an iron staircase and made an unbelievably loud noise. They called the cops but thankfully they never came and we went on with the rest of the shoot... Hope you enjoy the pictures... cheers!
lt79 - December 31, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
Not a trailer but here is a short teaser I prepared within a few hours. keep in mind its rough without any color or sound corrections. also, these music themes may not be used in the finished movie. you will get the idea though! thanks & happy new year to all my friends on this board!
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoID=24939784EDIT: I know I should also make one with English subs... I will shortly!
A.N. - January 6, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
I'd like to sincerely express to you all my admiration for your passion and your talent.
lt79 - January 7, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
Many thanks my friend, your comments are highly appreciated! Still, I don't consider this a great teaser. The trailer will be great :)
ONARFILMS - January 31, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
Hey!
I smell that not a lot of people realised there was a VIDEO TEASER for Bogris' new film.
Well, it's:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoID=24939784I already checked it and must admit the whole project looks much more professional than his previous fims.
Now, the gory stills above look astonishing and everybody must be anxious to see either more of them or- even better- a new longer trailer.
Also, some fresh news on your progress wouldn't hurt mister Bogris!
flashback - March 15, 2008 09:53 AM (GMT)
What happened with this one??
cinehound - March 16, 2008 07:54 AM (GMT)
I don't know many details but Bogris told me recently he's still making this film. It looks like his best so far!
lt79 - March 17, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
There's still a long way for me to go until the movie is complete. I know it is taking forever (I started shooting on September 2nd 2007) but it will be worth the long wait, trust me. Its very hard trying to make a movie as good as possible and having to deal with
the low budget limitations
all those fucking greedy people who only care about the money.
having to organize everything yourself.
the last 6 months have been really stressful and I really can't wait to finish shooting and start editing. Wish me good luck and I will be keeping you guys updated.
Nobody ever posted comments on the teaser ;)
ONARFILMS - March 17, 2008 02:45 PM (GMT)
I posted a comment on the teaser man!
I guess it's time to see a new teaser or, even better, a trailer made up of the finished footage!
cinehound - March 19, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
CATHARSIS teaser is very nice! Cool music score! And the title too, I think you should keep it!
lt79 - March 20, 2008 03:03 AM (GMT)
I will certainly use that title. As for the music score we are now working on it and you can expect something much better than what you heard in the teaser. Happy you like it!

I just noticed on Fokion's blog that some Greek big ass magazine interviewed him. And there's pix from the screening of the film as well. Is there going to be a dvd?
http://bogris.blogspot.com/
Aymanoglu - December 9, 2009 11:54 PM (GMT)
Congratulations Fokion! Your new film trailer looks great, love that gun barrell licking chick too!
From what I can gather it seems to carry influences of Death Wish with a bit of Yojimbo
So thumbs up to Katharsis!
How did you get the idea for this, and was the script rewritten during shoots?
Amazing to see Fokion use whatever resources he has. I understand this has taken a long time to complete - as last we spoke he was still filming - and that was a few years ago!
ONARFILMS - December 12, 2009 11:12 PM (GMT)
I think what's really killing Fokion is that his blog is in greek only.
Since he wants to become known abroad and aim at foreign markets, festivals etc he SHOULD have an english option too.
Right now, his blog can only be followed by a bunch of greek persons...
Jack J - December 12, 2009 11:54 PM (GMT)
Bill, do you know anything about a possible dvd release of his film?
ONARFILMS - December 13, 2009 02:04 PM (GMT)
For the moment there's no clear info about any dvd release.
Fokion is doing his best for his film.
He would really like to get a chance at some foreign festival but with so much offer on indies it's pretty hard to find any open doors, UNLESS you personally know the right guy.
If anyone of you has any ideas about any festival and- even better- if you know some person involved in them or- the best- if you ARE involved in one, then why don't you go ahead and suggest?
ONARFILMS - December 13, 2009 02:08 PM (GMT)
Oh,
Here's the trailer for CATHARSIS with "english subs" as Fokion says:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C4ZLZqUUn4HOWEVER, THERE ARE NO SUBS ON!
Fokion, better correct this asap buddy...
cinehound - December 13, 2009 06:27 PM (GMT)
As I've said before this is Bogris' best effort so far...by far :D
I hope I'll find time for a review soon!

Actually it does have subtitles! But they are not burnt in, you have to turn them on yourself, just like on a dvd.
In the right bottom corner you click just above where it says CC.
cinehound - December 20, 2009 02:37 PM (GMT)
This is much better because Greek people don't need to read them. Very good!
