OK, this is rather funny, I know. But it upsets me for almost 20 years now...


Back in my 20s I used to go downtown in Athens to watch movies (what else?).
There were several adult cinemas then, but you could find a lot of euro horror & other b-movies (softcore, WIP, sexy comedies, those Richard Harrison's martial arts trash, and more!). The most popular kinos where: Ideal, Rex1 & Rex2. They were open all day long. Ohhh, I'll start to cry.

The three cinemas were the one next to the other, so it was easy for me to warch 4 movies a day (Ideal had always two movies). They used to change films twice a week (Monday & Thursday, if I remember well...). I used to visit them alone or with Bill, a good friend of mine then. Now he publish Piranha, a Greek cine fanzine.

Anyway, between all the tits & the gore I saw a weird erotic horror that -later- I found out that was a softcore version of Joe D'Amato's Orgasmo Nero. Alright folks, don't get angry, I know how much easy is to find that on VHS & DVD...!!

But...but the version I've seen then had a scene where the leading actor peeps a rather big black servant (or she's the lady who rents him the house?) when she has a bath and when she comes out they look each other with passion and finally get laid on a table. Soft version...

All the versions I've seen on video & disc have something with that lady, but NOT the scene I describe above !!
OK, it sounds silly, but for me then it was a big shock to watch a sexy scene with a big lady...and it haunted me badly.

Just for the hell of it, I want to find that version!
Any help?
Is it a terrible posibility...It could be another film? A similar film?

Oh, I forgot...Yes, I'm sorry but it looks that THE CRYPT DVD SHOP has closed for good.

I never made my shopping there actually but I suppose it's not a good thing when cult shops close.

Their prices were high, today most people shop from the internet and find better prices there...I'm very angry with most Greek DVD shops in Athens, their prices suck !!!

A good choice is B-BRAIN I suppose...They have good stuff and low prices usually.

B-BRAIN kicks ass, not to mention they know what they are talking about when it comes to cult & exploitation cinema. I believe you must know the bussiness you are in (no matter if its cult DVDs or underwear or whatever) very well otherwise you won't last. B-BRAIN's prices are really good, I got COMMANDO LEOPARD for 12 euros- online it sells for like 18. B-BRAIN is not trying to rip-off its customers unlike stores such as CLIP AT- they sell the BLIND DEAD boxset for 140 euros for example. Their prices are two times the prices of B-BRAIN plus they don't know anything about cult cinema and are not friendly at all.

As for the golden days of the 80's theaters, I just wish i could turn back time LOL oh this thread was originally discussing ORGASMO NERO so I guess we went off-topic... :D

as I feel that shops like this one have no luck in Athens...
I guess most people here run after free or cheap copies,
downloads & projections and avoid to spend much money
for their collection...or the truth is that they haven't money
to spend? I don't want to be cruel with nobody...

I believe every person has priorities. Some people's main interest is cinema while others are more interested in fast cars for example but also enjoy watching movies once in a while. The ones that will actually spend their hard-earned cash on movies are the ones that are dedicated to cinema, the diehards. The ones that have cinema as a secondary interest will prefer downloading/copying/borrowing/renting because they spend most of their cash on their primary hobby/interest. A store such as B-BRAIN has no luck in a city like Athens because there are no diehard fans of cult & exploitation that regularly invest their cash on DVDs. There are lots of people who like to watch these films once in a while but they rarely buy discs.

I'm almost sure that the film I'm looking for is IL PAVONE NERO (1974), a sexy voodoo flick with Karin Schubert. If anyone has it for sell/trade in any format please let me know...or if you know where I could find it.

Italian movies had it for sale. Maybe he could find you another copy. (Though I'm afraid the tape is only in italian.)

Orgasmo Nero also known as Voodoo Baby, directed by Joe D'Amato. The Erotic - Horror classic. I have a DVD-rip of this film w/ double subtitles. I am trying to find another version of it for sometime now. I know eBay has an Eng. dubbed version but they are charging to much! I also need a cover as well. :(
