Historical Information: History: What little could be gathered of Pok Kurchak's days of youth is very little, though of major significance to his views of the galexy and of others. Born into slavery in an Imperial Remnant mining encampment, he was used as a beast of burden, a manual laborer. He hardly ever recalls his days of slavery, though sometimes he will recall anecdotes of his tribulations. He was raised by his father, an old Yuzzem named Yogwari, as his mother died in a savage attempt to kill a slaver who struck her beloved Pok. The little Yuzzem was horrified to watch as the one who bore him and protected him was shot dead. She had the satisfaction, however, of taking her quarry with her. Pok's life with his father was a brutal one, as if his owners did not treat him harshly enough: Pok's father was extremely hard on him. Though the young Yuzzem may not have known it at the time, Yogwari loved him greatly, and desired that his son be safe and submit to their masters so that he might avoid harm. When the youngling stepped out of line, he would not only be punished by the slavers but by his own father as well, as a lesson on how to stay alive. His son became a very bitter individual over this, seeing how all of the other Yuzzem would resist the slavers when they could and kill them, he did not understood why his father would not do the same. He never realized that his father had managed to stay alive for a very long time this way. When Pok was in his teen years, Yogwari fell ill and was left to die in by the slavers, at which point he explained his ways to his son. Pok, having now come to an understanding with his father, gave up much of the bitterness and hate he felt towards his only surviving parent. It was not to last. When Yogwari finally succumbed to his illness and died, Pok's hatred for his father was converted into loathing of the slavers for whom he blamed his father's death, as well as his mother's. On his seventeenth birthday he himself led an uprising which slew many slavers, an in the end freed the many Yuzzem who they captured. Hitchhiking on transports, the freed Yuzzem colony went to Courusant itself, requesting that they be given justice and that the slavers be hunted down by the New Galactic Alliance. In response the Alliance posted the surviving slaver's data in the criminal archives, and a hunt ensued to ensure no more Yuzzem would be taken hostage by the thugs. For their achievements, the Alliance commended Pok and several other prominent Yuzzem in the colony. Made restless by his excursions, Pok joined the Galactic Alliance army, and began to carve out a beautiful career as a heavy support trooper. His mission was to strike down the best the enemy had to offer, as well as their tanks and other vehicles. He accomplished this with a gigantic heavy repeating blaster cannon, the weight of which would cause even the strongest pair of human knees to buckle. He once acquired a small rocket launcher which he used to great effect, though he lost the weapon in the thick of battle against the armies of the Sith. One of Pok's greatest achievements (and one which he is most proud of) was destroying an imperial AT-AT. As the story goes, he managed to load an air speeder full of thermal charges before locking its gears and sending it careening into the death machine's neck. With its head separated from its body, the war machine became quite useless. During his time in the military, Pok began to rue the fact that he was quite uneducated due to his life as a slave, and he began to take advantage of the military's educational programs. Once he had learned basic elementary studies, he became very interested in planetary biology, as well as physics and ballistics. He studied planetary shielding, as well as environmental hazards and education. He also tried to become more cultured, and began to go to plays and orchestras. It was at an orchestra on Courusant where he fell in love with music, and was soon taking lessons in one of the wind instruments used there. Because of his maw, he could not properly play many of the wind instruments, being forced to pick one in which you blew through a tube to operate the device. This was more easily done than champing down upon mouthpieces, etc. Pok Kurchak has currently risen through the ranks of the Galactic Army to the position of Lieutenant, and his future career as a guardian of justice may see him rise higher still.
