It died cuz there was no input from you guys... Look who did all the illustrations and some of the descriptions... 80% of the work was mine... Rather than going into endless discussions about vague and baffling unit abilities in SC...we could'a gotten into history write-ups and you authors could'a actively required some illustrations and stuff. Or we could've got crackin' with the hero roster (and their personal histories) and authors again could have gotten a start on this and asked for illustrations, or illustrators just make a pic that somehow satisfies and inspires someone to write something about it.

That is being "active and eager." You guys must act like elite college ppl... active and eager... thats how organizations get rolling and not stay dead like us. unsure.gif I for one, is more like someone who gets rollin' when someone eagerly asks me for something, lays responsibility on me, with a task trusted upon me, as in "Crabbie, can ya plz do a drawing of Kerrigan popping out of her Chrysalis? It needs to be shot from the back angle and zerglings and various underlings crooning at her rebirth of a new child... yadayadayada."

We all got busy stuff... and I know that, we all got homework to finish, stuff to shoot, privates to yell at (thats u, Slicky! ), and girls to pamper (rolls eyes). Each of us has limited time and we can't spend it on SCE forever. But with more people, there will always be some active members at any time... but we got no way to attract more members. Any active illustrator or story writer from scorg is not interested, hence their wannabe fans are not either...

and let's get out my ol' Sting which I'm infamous for. To put it 50% bluntly, there are none of you that can actually do any quality stuff. SgtHK can, but he isn't really active. You active lot on the other hand, have no skills. Unskilled ppl, I admire how you are still willing to pop in here from time to time (albeit without much input ) and you guys seem to have at least a bit of passion for SC, and that is good. But is there anyone out there who has a passion for SC like those WH40K-toytards do? We rly need those like that. Sadly, a lot of passionate ppl are 12yr old noobs. We need skilled, passionate ppl, and these are often elite illustrators or (rather than tongue.gif ) authors.

You guys can recruit such artisans from scorg but with how dead this thing is, i dun think so... ppl would be more interested in making a new proj community than reviving a dead one, cuz it has no hope. ohmy.gif

HENCEFORTH:
To attract ppl, i thought ofthree ways:

1. design a flashy website. But none of know how to do that, no?
2. Hide the old forum categories and make new forum categories, make anyone who comes here think this place is new. (Shh...! don't tell them )
3. "Hell, It's about TIME." Yes, to start opening up to SC2. But then I couldn't be running this place and will have to leave it up to some other dude (know who that is? *hint hint) until I actually get to play SC2 once its out. (I hate SCHPOILERS! thats why.)

Agenda:
Ppl please bring up what direction we'd like to go with. It seems we should have had a direction on things from the start rather than go rambling on enlessly about vaguely described units and buildings. Like:
We should be doing:
Hero Profiles
History of SC (Major Battles)
Background History of SC (Racial background history)

Unit details ( Damn well think we should lay off of this for now)

As I said, I think we need to stay away from units for now: VAGUE! We are gonna debate, reply, and wait for answers from very few partially active ppl, its gonna take months to get anywhere. I realized, on the other hand, SC history or character profiles are pretty clear and ambiguity is at best minimal. We have a straight view.

With that decided, plz voice what u would like to volunteer doing, (example: Bob wants to do Raynor. Dory wants to write about protoss history and while she volunteered she asks Damien to do a picture on protoss warships attacking Xel 'Naga ships, whose designs themes are based off of the Xel 'Naga Temple.)

*hangs head shamefully*

Well, in addition to what you have, here's what springs to mind:

One: Revamp the site colors. Doesn't have to be flashy or anything, but all this blue is (I feel) rather dampening. If we could get some one to just modify the colors to something easy on the eyes and maybe insert some .jpgs or .gifs (hopefully not 'offical' SC work though! Stuff by our crew!) to spice up some stuff.
Perhaps just posting a general image in the first post of a thread?

Two: User descriptions. A system, or title, or some kind of custom title where a user or mod can change their specialty, from general Art or Writer, to more specific terms, such as Xel'naga Conceptualist or Protoss Artist, or even stuff grounding in the real world, just as Physicist or Military Buff.

Modifying the forums might actually work (even better if we can tie in the color revamp) and then have the first person in each [new] thread post a summary of the older thread's discussions, but in a more tangible and professional form (this would provide new users with something to base their ideas and ideas around, instead of throwing it all in a heap).

Adding in SC2 is still a bit risky, we don't know if Blizzard might suddenly decide to remove something, and we need someone to constantly monitor the official site(s).
On the other hand, it might provide a lot of traffic.

With that said, I'm back on duty and finally have a new homepage other than Google.

*salutes*

You have forte over writing, but its absolute value is, right now, questionable... :C And here mah STing strikes again! From time to time u crank out some stylish stuff, but when I saw that orange demon's tattoo I'm trying to be obscure here, now! biggrin.gif) u degraded... back to ur days of EVA copying. Ur droids look better still.

I'll see to the changing of the colors... i'll just go to a skin site... in fact i was planning to do it either today or tomorrow.

I wish I can add in more user descriptions and stuff next to each person's avvy. Invision Power Board is the niftiest I've ever seen of all forum boards yet, it has the basics, the fast reply, no constantly logging out bugs, and a user-friendly easy-to-use interface, both for the admin and the forumer. But I want to be able to add in more things next to ppl's avvies, like more than one user title (one for occupation in proj and one for no. of posts/jokes) And I've seen some forums like that, looking like if its been infested by a buncha computer programming nerds who wrote codes all day. Alas, I dunno how to do that... adding more title slots and other nice functions next to user avvies.

If we had "bosses" for each race and stuff, hmm... could work for "perky" sense of authority and power for some ppl... and more motivation... I THink HK is best fit for the Terran Division Boss. From @D concept to 3D renders, he is da L337. But I don't think he has much time on his hands though, I believe he was in a college the last time I contacted him.

Protoss? Uh... dunno, if hmm, was it chevron? someone who drew Aldaris back before SC2 was announced... I think he may be fit, but I dissed him so I wonder... Maybe that Romanian dude, eh... whats his name... PraetorMike can do it. Last time he showed me his zealot and colossus, his style was remarkable strong in that SC1 "ancient protossy feel" that has power, not that overfluid designs we see in SC2 Protoss. His skills improved a lot in a short period, I just hope his maturity did as well...

Zergy: well since there's no one else that comes to mind that regularly does Zerg stuff, I'll be heading this one for now. That's not to say the other two races' divisions are not actually headed by anyone yet, we need to invite them. Can you reach that Aldaris illustrator guy? I may be still able to get PraetorMike from here... he seems to like, look up to me in the past, I dunno about now, though biggrin.gif He may have grown too big (in his skills). laugh.gif

But I wouldnt go too far into making smaller divisions into occupations... Illustrators of certain styles can be rounded into drawing different races, but they can each do what they want within that division, from concept to coloring. But some of us are pretty lazy to color things, so they can leave it up to other ppl. Credits of course, are clearly shown. I dun want a bureaucracy, nor a factory of workers doing one mundane single nut-tightening job and the other doing an equally boring tire-fitting job.

Ppl like us should do our best in this, it can kinda be a patital testament to one's abilities to do art and work together in a community, things (art) colleges love to know about a potential student. wink.gif
