-----Braxton Academy was founded in 1905 by a Mr. Leonard Braxton, and tucked away in the mountains to foster a serene setting in which pupils could learn. The school was created around the Lost Bow lake and the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York, fitting into the scenery and remaining largely unknown until the 1950's. At this time, graduated students were choosing to set up businesses that catered to student needs and desires along the outer fringe of Braxton Academy, and later these businesses would grow and prosper, leading the creation of Braxton, New York.

------In 1958, the school Dean's voted to have Braxton Academy renamed to South Braxton Academy and it has remained so ever since. Today, both the town and academy have grown immensely - the town has become more residential than commercial, with the stores and shops still orienting to the south side nearest to the school, as they had in the beginning, and the school itself adding new additions and buildings, such as the state of the to accomadate it's growing roster.
