1) You are running Hijackthis from a temporary location. Running Hijackthis from a temporary location could cause you to unintentionally remove the backups it creates. Please move it to its own folder, preferably C:\Programfiles\Hijackthis, so you can easily find it again.

2) Second, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program.
This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:
Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:
New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

3) Third, Run HijackThis.
On the first menu, click Open the Misc Tools Section
Click Open Uninstall Manager
Click Save List - Save it anywhere.
A notepad will pop-up after it's saved, please copy everything in that Notepad and paste it here.

In your next reply can you please post, a new Hijackthis log and the uninstall list.

At one point in this fix we will be going into safemode. You may wish print out these instructions or save them into a word processing application.

1)Reopen Hijackthis, press 'Do a system scan only', then mark the boxes next to all these,

• O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
• O20 - Winlogon Notify: msldr32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msldr32.dll
• O20 - Winlogon Notify: RelevantKnowledge - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlls.dll

Close all other windows, then click Fix Checked.

2)Next we need to Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files, folders. Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View > check "Show hidden files and Folders", uncheck "Hide Protected operating system Files (recommended)", and hit Apply > OK.

Next, Reboot your computer in "SAFE MODE". To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Please navigate to and delete the following files (if present):
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msldr32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rlls.dll

I could only uncheck BHO - No name. The other two files were not there.

Did those 020's not show in your HJT log? Were you not able to fix the lines?

Lets try pulling the plug on those files first then.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.

• Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
• Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

• Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
• Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
• Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
• Click Done
• Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
• Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:

• It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
• On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
• After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
• The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply

Okay good. Just a couple of things to finish with.

Close all other windows, then click Fix Checked.

2)Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. A malicious site could render Java content under older, vulnerable versions of Sun's software if the user has not removed them. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 1 and save it to your desktop.
• Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1...allows end-users to run Java applications".
• Click the "Download" button to the right.
• Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
• Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
• Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
• Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
• Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
• Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u1-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

3)Now you should Set a New Restore Point to prevent possible reinfection from an old one. Some of the malware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore. Since System Restore is a protected directory, your tools can not access it to delete these bad files which sometimes can reinfect your system. Setting a new restore point AFTER cleaning your system will help prevent this and enable your computer to "roll-back" to a clean working state.

The easiest and safest way to do this is:

• Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
• Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
• Then go to Start > Run and type: Cleanmgr
• Click "OK".
• Click the "More Options" Tab.
• Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

4) I noticed that your internet explorer is outdated, you have no antivirus and no firewall, I am suprised your computer was not more severly infected. To fix this please follow all the steps in the tutorial below.
