Okay, so we have this big ol badlands that nobody can survive in due to an old meteor or SOMETHING according to tales, but what is it doing?

Lets get some good old supernatural, demon killing going on. For anyone who wants to come up with an idea, feel free to post here and a team can be given the mission.

One I'm making right now for myself and Izel to give it a try is a mission to a small village in the south west of water country to fight against KAPPA!!!.

So I'm claiming Kappa as a roleplay mission and battle type thing.

But lets do some good stuff, like, no vampires who die because of a cross or anything. Take out some of the traditional "womanly" weaknesses from creatures and make em more badass, preferrably oriental. There's alot of good oriental demon, ghost and monster stories.

Izel's character will be part of a clan, who's roots go back further than teh nation foundings, and have been responsible for training and killing these demons whenever the situations arise, perhaps Hiruki would like to be another such clan as well?

Whether or not you know you're hunting demons is up to you. If you like I can try and find some info for other missions as well if you want to get an idea without the research and such.

Lets have a pow wow on this story idea.

The premise is that the meteor laying in the crater is leaking out radioactive poisons deep into the soil, thus poisoning the earth, and demons are drawn to dead dying earth, or, are stimulated into activity by large amounts of bloodshed and sorrow and anger, which there has been plenty of recently. Thus, they're becoming more active than they have in the last 200 years.

I wouldnt mind it, after all, Hiruki is from a demon hunting clan already. ^^ He's the proclaimed Demon Slayer or something of that nature >>

Hm, i like where you're going with this. Perhaps I can also be of some assistance on the folklore note, given I'm an amateur folklorist myself. ^^

We could also have like a yurei hunting mission sometime later, in one of the old village ruins where they're more likely to show up. Being from a clan that deals with the dead, it would make sense to go for yurei/ghosts as well as yokai.

Here's a list of some possible creatures that could be hunted:

• Yokai - monster-spirit in Japanese folklore
  ~ Bakemono/Henge - shapeshifting yokai, they are originally animals that imitate humans (mostly women) Common Obake: Tanuki (raccoon dog), Kitsune (fox), Nekomata (cat), Ōkami (wolf), Tsuchigumo (spider), Mujina (badger), Hebi (snake), Inugami (dog)
  ~ Oni - mountain ogre with two long horns on it's head, mouth full of fangs, and carries a large weapon. They are mostly depicted as evil, but can occasionally be the embodiment of an ambivalent natural force.
  ~ Tengu - ogres that have a human-like form (and dramatically long nose usually) but wings like frightening birds of prey; they are typically the fearsome protectors of mountains and forests.
  ~ Kappa - water sprites, or river children, they are typically mischievous troublemakers with a curiosity about humans. While their pranks tend to remain innocent, they more troublesome are the ones who have been known to steal, kidnap, and rape. Kappa do enjoy eating children.
  ~ Nopperabō - not to be confused with a mujina as this is a misused terminology, they seem like a normal person until you look at the face; instead of features there is a smooth area without any normal features. In some stories there are no features at all, while in others there is a mouth. They are notorious for frightening people, but they are harmless.
  
• Yurei - wandering or lost spirits, typically known as ghosts in the Western world.
  ~Onryō - Vengeful ghosts who come back from purgatory for a wrong done to them during their lifetime.
  ~Ubume - A mother ghost who died in childbirth, or died leaving young children behind. This yūrei returns to care for her children, often bringing them sweets.
  ~Goryō - Vengeful ghosts of the aristocratic class, especially those who were martyred.
  ~Funayūrei - The ghosts of those who perished at sea.
  ~Zashiki-warashi - The ghosts of children, often mischievous rather than dangerous.
  ~Warrior Ghosts - Veterans of the Genpei War who fell in battle. Warrior Ghosts almost exclusively appear in Noh Theater.
  ~Seductress Ghosts - The ghost of a woman or man who initiates a post-death love affair with a living human.

...I like the idea.

When I made the plains I had no real reason why everything was dead besides like, a meteor or something but I never thought of anything else.

Good thing I didn't because I reeeaally like this idea.

Though being torn apart by a demon isn't very appealing.

It's for everyone, and they can deal with the demons however they please as they encounter them. Sometimes a ghost might appear at random in an RP topic as well if one of us is battle mods is feeling really bored. XD

Only thing is it's hard for people to get to the center of where the meteor is due to the poisons that leech out of the soil as fumes and fluid, so water is one of the only ways of getting to the other countries on the other side.

How in the world do you hit a ghost?

Is it like, semi-corporeal? If it's incorporeal I believe we are going to have some problems unless you have special weapons for each one.

But that's awesome! xD Good development. Though it sucks because those water ways are probably long ways.

Ghost hunting is actually quite different from demon hunting. Hunting yokai is easier because you can strike them with physical attacks. With a yurei you need something more intangible like an illusionary attack or something of that nature. Nin or gen jutsus would work if they were of the illusionary or metaphysical type. Being from a demon hunting clan, you'd be given a weapon created to be able to slay all forms of the paranormal, including yurei. Though with yurei, you're not exactly supposed to kill them, but rather exorcise them and send them to their eternal rest rather than purgatory.


I wouldnt worry too much about Jun being eaten by demons. If Hiruki comes along, he'd prolly end up protecting those unused to hunting such monsters of the netherworlds. Simply because he's used to it, and like Izel, would be an asset to any team sent on such a mission.
