Name: Toloran
Race: Centaur
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Affilation: Orilias Village/Tribes
Age: 22 years
Attitude: Toloran is mostily friendly and aimable and willing to make friends, much of the time, however he doesn't respond well to those he deems objectionable or rude, or ill tempered. He is adventurous, desiring to see all of the wide world of Saiorse Eas, with a strong sense of independence, being fairly stubborn, when he is decided about something. However he is also extremely loyal to his close friends and comrades, being a very willing ally once he gets to know and trust someone.
Description: Toloran is sturdily built, lean and well muscled, with his equine half heavily built, almost draft like in build, with a stocky body and powerful legs, that are heavily feathered. His main body is a deep azure blue, shading to sky blue at the legs and just below where his humanoid half joins his equine half at the torso, with patches of bright lustrous copper dotted all over his equine back and legs. His feathers shade from sky blue to light lilac, while his hair starts of hazel, shading to burnished copper, then to deep red at the end as it cascades into the mane down his back, while his tail is also copper, as are his hooves. His humanoid part is fair skined, and he has hazel eyes, and a short neat, hazel-coppery beard. He wears a tunic and a brown leather jerkin on his upper humanoid torso.
History: Born the son of a respected couple, in a small village populated entirely by his centaur tribe. His father was a wealthy merchant, mated to his mother, a well know respectable lady from another well to do family, and they have one daughter, his younger sister. Toloran wished to seek his future, helping with his father's merchant business and caravans, but his mother opposed this, wanting him to stay at home. This lead to constant disputes over his future, and in the end, Toloran, seeing that his mother was gradually winning his father over, ran away from home, determined to set out and make a name for himself.

Looks like an interesting character. smile.gif *digs through his characters to find one that could play with a centaur, but comes up empty-handed...* xD

If you can go ahead and post up what you know about centaurs, that'd be great. biggrin.gif

Ok, here are some of the legends pertaining to centaurs that I've heard/read about:-

Centaurs are a mythological creature, classically half man, half horse, classically from the legends of Greek Mythology. Legends variously put them as sons of Apollo or Ixion and Nephele, the cloud. They were frequently associated with Dionysus, they were reputed to generally wild, unruly and aggressive, living exclusively on meat and susceptible to being violent when drunk, as it only took a little or even the scent of the vapours of wine to set them off into a frenzy . One tale is that of Nessus, who attempted to carry of Heracles's wife by trickery, after offering to carry her across a river, he then attempted to run off with her, but Heracles shot him with one of the poisoned arrow's he'd dipped in the Lernean Hydra's venomous blood. Nessus took revenge by giving Heracles wife, Deianara a potion made of his blood, claiming it could be used as a love potion if ever she suspected Heracles love growing weaker for him, and when she used it, it killed him as a result.

There are also good centaurs, such as Pholus, the friend of Heracles, and most famously of all, the immortal centaur Cheiron, who gained his immortality as a result of being not conceived via either legend mentioned above, but by being the son of Chronos. Cheiron was famed as teacher to many famous heroes, teaching music, medicine and the skills of the hunt. He died as a result of being accidentally shot by Heracles when Pholus had held a feast in Heracles honour and Heracles had asked for wine, and after other centaurs had rampaged, Heracles had attempted to fend them off with his poisonous arrows. Chiron was accidentally wounded, and gave his immortality to Prometheus when the pain could not be treated, as he couldn't die as a result because of his immortality, but found the pain too much agony to bear.
