You gotta love being out here, alone. The beauty and tranquility of these forests are more relaxing than anything. It's also a good place to catch up on sleep. The boy lay with his upper body flat on the ground, and his legs half bent in the air, absorbing whatever sunrays passed through the tree branches.

The young shinobi began to fall into a lull, but then he thought he sensed something. A little more concentration into what he felt...

Yeah, someone's here. Shimoru was laying flat on the grassy earth, but his arms lay by his hips. He slowly crept his hand into his kunai case, just in case.

Haruko jumped from branch to branch in search of something worth his time. Everything I can think of is pretty boring... Haruko thought as he landed on the ground below a tree. He cracked his neck and started walking through the short green grass of the forest.

Then he spotted someone from a distance. Haruko didn't know if he was a Konoha shinobi or a enemy. He moved a little bit closer. It seems this person doesn't even sense me at all. Haruko didn't really care anyway if the person noticed him at all. A boring talk isn't what Haruko wanted to do.

Okay, time to get out of here. Then Haruko turned around and was about to walk away, but suddenly something crossed his mind. I didn't pay attention to where I was going! I'm lost!? *sigh* I guess I'll have to ask that guy over there for directions. Haruko shoved his hands into his gray jacket pockets and walked toward the person laying down on the ground.

He blew up his blonde hairs out of his face and asked.

'' Hey, how do I leave this forest? ''

He seems really calm...heh...wish I was that calm.

Shimoru pushed the kunai back into his pocket once he saw the stranger come out of the brush. He even closed his eyes as the boy approached him.

'' Hey, how do I leave this forest? ''

Shimoru opened his eyes to see dark green ones, not too different from his, shielded by blonde hairs and a Konoha hitai-ite above at the boy's forehead.

Was that a serious question? was the first though to pass through his mind.

He didn't even bother giving it a second thought. "You live in Konoha and you don't know how to get out of the forests that Konoha is famous for, and you're a ninja on top of that?" Shimoru asked in an are-you-serious tone.

Haruko opened his mouth to say something, but he was speechless. All that came out was a '' Uh. '' He scrached the back of his head. '' Well, I wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings...and I kinda ended up here. Heh. '' Haruko forced a smile. I made my way through a forest before. Why couldn't I do it now? Hmm. I wonder if this guy has any ability in jutsu? Why am I thinking about that!? I need to get out of here! Not to chatter the day away!

After his battle, Haruko lost and sat down next to the person. His legs crossed and his index finger pushing up his headband, so it wouldn't cover his eyes. '' Yeah, so...what would your name be? '' Haruko asked, not really interested. Just trying to pass the time. I might have a theory to get out of here...no! I can't just rely on theories! I need facts! *sigh* '' Forget the directions, I'll figure it out myself. '' Haruko stated as he layed on his back, looking at the sky.

He opened his mouth, looking like he was ready to explain, but...'' Uh. '' was all the boy said.

'' Well, I wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings...and I kinda ended up here. Heh. '' The boy laid down and made himself comfortable before continuing. '' Yeah, so...what would your name be? ''

"Well, since you asked, Mazucha Shimoru." the redhead responded. I'll help him get out later, I guess. "What's your name?" He didn't necessarily want to know, since his peace and quiet was intruded upon by this stranger. But his mood was also lighter because of the tranquility time he had to himself, so what better way to spend it than making a friend?

"Well, since you asked, Mazucha Shimoru." He replied. Then the red haired genin asked a question. "What's your name?" Haruko lifted himself up so he was sitting on his bottom again. '' My name? Well, my- '' Haruko thought for a bit. I don't really have any friends. Heh. Come to think of it, I pretty much denied everybody who came near me. Was I really caught up in my studies? When he finally snapped back in the real world, Haruko stuttered out the rest of his sentence.

'' M-My name wo-would-would be Sakumaa, Haruko. Bu-but just call me Haruko please. I hate it when people call me by my full name. '' I don't know why I stuttered like that! I must be in shock or something! I can't even think straight! I'll just have to talk about something else. ''

'' So, you're a ninja right? I haven't seen you in the academy. Maybe we had different classes. We could have seen each other before. ''

'' My name? Well, my- '' the boy paused for a moment. '' M-My name wo-would-would be Sakumaa, Haruko. Bu-but just call me Haruko please. I hate it when people call me by my full name. Sakumaa Haruko. This kid's not so bad. Why he's nervous, I'll never know, but he's not so bad.

"Well, how old are you? 11, 12? Actually, it doesn't even matter. Let's assume that you were in my class. I was asleep probably every other day, so I didn't even get the chance to look around." He joked.

Shimoru finally moved. He rolled from laying on his back to laying on his belly, with his head on his hands, still talking and listening, bu still trying to enjoy the sun's rays.

"But you just graduated, right?" he asked.

"Well, how old are you? 11, 12? Actually, it doesn't even matter. Let's assume that you were in my class. I was asleep probably every other day, so I didn't even get the chance to look around."

A simple '' Heh. '' was all that escaped from Haruko's mouth so he could still remain friendly. I hated people like that. Even though I did it once in a while...still. Slacking off in your studies isn't the way to go!

"But you just graduated, right?"

'' Y-yeah. I didn't have any supernatural grades or anything. Just a simple score that passed me. I hardly even tried on the final tests. Its really just basic knowledge anyway. A guy who lived under a rock for twenty years could pass the academy easy! Heh. Unlike... '' Haruko stopped. He gotten a little carried away. Usually he wasn't so verbal. I guess my suger rush is back. Uzumaki Naruto. Failed one too many times. They should have flunked him from the academy forever! I just can't get over it! How can a flunky pass the academy? Or the genin tests I hear so much about? I should just drop it. But I can't!

*sigh* '' So you have a three man squad yet? I'm still waiting for mine to be assigned. '' Haruko asked, trying to forget about Naruto's failures.

Another genin unassigned to a team? This is becoming ridiculous. What is going on? Shimoru had flashbacks of his bump-ins with the other unassigned genin.

His head picked up off the ground. "You too? I've already met three genin without sensei. You, a boy named Hanzatsu Inase, and a girl named Dekanah Denfor." Shimoru paused. "Myself, I have a sensei, Hanzatsu Sui. A high-calibur hothead. My teammates, Aoigawa Takimaru, a hyperactive knucklehead, and Yamanaka Hanabi, an out-of-there girl. A very interesting bunch." He continued by joking, "Only the weirdest people become shinobi, have you noticed that? Even in the Academy, everybody has a problem or something is special about them."

Haruko streched out his legs and cracked his knuckles and layed flat on the ground again. '' I wonder what his special ability is...I-I mean, I wonder what your uniqueness is? ''

Katon: Hosenka no Jutsu!

4 small fireballs left Shimoru's mouth aimed for the areas where sun shone through the tree's canopy. As they reached the summit of their flight, they seemed to disintegrate into the air. "In terms of weaknesses, I guess you could say I'm a sucker for almost any genjutsu." Shimoru added as he brought his arms back down towards the earth.

"Well," The red haired genin layed on his back again. "There's nothing special about me except for this." Then the genin shot four fireballs at the sky. Haruko watched as they left his sight. Nice jutsu. I wonder what use that would do in combat? I'll have to see sometime. '' Hmmm. Alright jutsu. ''

"Sounds like a plan." Shimoru replied. I shouldn't talk much more. I give out too much information about myself, I'll be unable to keep any of my strategies a secret.

"You look energetic. You wanna race or something?" Shimoru asked, still having his head in the grassy earth.

I don't even know my way through this forest! What a sad life I live... Haruko stopped streching and stood up straight with his arms crossed.

'' Okay, I guess I could know the forest a bit better. What are the rules? '' Haruko asked. Heh heh heh. If I can use ninjutsu this race will be over! I can just flash my way through! But, using no jutsu might make me stronger... *sigh* Haruko then began jogging in place to prepare for the upcoming race.

"Hmm, rules...rules...Ah, yes! We'll turn this into more a scavenger hunt than a race, since I guess you're not sure where you're going." He grabbed a kunai and stabbed at a piece of bark that came off of a nearby tree, to cover the tip of the kunai. He then threw it into the air at some random direction in the collection of trees. He grabbed another kunai and threw it into the ground by his foot.

"No rules. Anything goes. Just find my kunai and bring it back here. First to do so wins. Just to be safe, if neither f us can find it, come back here five minutes after the start. I'll alert you with my katon if I'm back here first, otherwise, I'll find my way back. "

He stretched his arms and legs once more before continuing. "Ready...Go!"
