Manavendra sat on the grass of the KylEiladaestia, glancing upwards at the clouds floating by and smiling to himself a little. He was sitting next to Julius, and still wasn't sure what to make of the strange person. Of course, there was no point worrying too terribly much about it.

"Do you often eat things that sweet?" he asked finall, referring to the... well, he wasn't sure what they were called, that Julius had made for him. They were actually quite good, but more sweet than he was used to. But he supposed that what he was used to would 'burn' the tongues of the people around here because of the spices used.

"Oh, and thank you again for making those. They were very good," he added hastily, remembering his manners. Vendra hoped that Julius wouldn't have to leave any time soon, he was enjoying the company.

"It depends. Generally I do, but if I'm eating something with meat I try not to. I've never found that animal flesh is supposed to taste very sweet," he said with a shrug, laying down and glancing up at the sky with a soft smile. He really needed to start eating fruits and such more often- they actually tasted pretty good; with the added benefit of being allegedly good for you.

Julius glanced over at Manavendra for a moment, a bit worried about what to say now. The first time you met someone was always the most difficult. You didn't know enough about the person to easily come up with something, and didn't want to ask anything too personal because they might take offense at it. Over time it stopped mattering and there were few things you could say that would offend the other person, more because you knew what not to bring up by then.

"So, why'd you decide to join Sahy? I hope you don't take offense at this- but your outfit and the way you look and such aren't that common around here," he asked finally, glancing up at him.

"Ah, that's very true. I couldn't imagine eating sweet meat. It would taste odd, to say the least. I'm used to eating things much spicier, though, so sweet is unusual to me in general," Manavendra said cheerfully, glancing over at Julius and noticing that he as now laying down. He adjusted so he was resting on his elbows instead: not quite laying down, but also not exactly sitting upright.

"Why did I come here?" he asked vaguely, a bit surprised at this question. It was perfectly understandable, of course. He had to admit that he did stand out a bit compared to everyone else around here. Getting asked why he chose to come was hardly surprising- he should probably get used to it. "I grew up taking care of my younger siblings. When they grew up and left home I had no skill other than that. My parents tried to find me a job- but to no avail. I heard of this place and decided that, since I had no other purpose, I chose to come here"

Manavendra shrugged at this, glancing away. He wasn't sure what else to say. "And why did you choose to come here?"

"Never got into spicy stuff... Doesn't mean I wouldn't eat it, though," he said vaguely. He wasn't really picky in what he ate- he just knew what he liked and focused on that. Of course, there were certain things he wouldn't eat- but wasn't that normal? It wasn't too outrageous for someone to have at least one food they never ate.

"Wow... that must've been rough. I'm sure your parents were glad to have the help, though," he said vaguely, thinking out loud. It wasn't totally uncommon for parents to enlist the eldest child to raise the children. But this seemed a bit more drastic than that- if it kept him from being able to learn any useful skill beside. "I came here.... forever ago. At the time it was to get away from my step-sister. We didn't get along... it became abusive, each of us harming the other more and more. It didn't work very well. So, yeah, The other options weren't as good."

"Yes, the people were I lived grew many spices- and used them on everything. I think, based on the food I've had here, people wouldn't be able to handle food with that kind of flavor," Manavendra said with a smile, nodding. Of course, he probably didn't like things that were quite normal for people to eat around here. To each his own, he supposed.

'I wonder how many people came here because they wanted to for their whole life- from what I can tell most come here more to escape,' Ven thought after hearing Julius's reasoning. He also had to wonder how long 'forever ago' was. Julius looked to be around 20- so it was possible that he could have gotten there just yesterday or 60 years ago depending. The aging of mages was so odd... "They did, I think. And I'm sorry about your sister. My younger brothers would bicker quite often, but it never became that bad."

"Bah, people around here can't handle any flavor! You add a bit of salt or sugar and they think you're insane and start lecturing you about it. It's insane," he scoffed at the comment on the spices. What he failed to mention was that his version of 'a bit of sugar' was like saying that the ocean had a bit of water in it. "And yeah, that's probably good to know. If you ever have some or make some or whatever- let me know. I want to try it even if the spices would probably burn a hole in my tongue,' the Fire Master added with a grin, glancing over at Manavendra

"Mm, and don't worry too much over the step-sister thing. For one thing, we weren't related and felt no reason to be nice to each other. Then we hated our parents getting married because of the situations. I think we both had bad experiences as kids and started taking it out on each other... As I said, it was awhile ago. I'm getting over the aftermath," he said vaguely, shrugging. Of course- Ignatius was technically aftermath, so he had to wonder if getting healed would mean losing his sharesoul. 'Nah... that's crazy. I'd never get rid of Ignatius,' he thought nervously, glancing at the clouds again.
