Heroes

Name: Mario
Origin: debuted in Donkey Kong (arcade), and later made famous in one of his own games, Super Mario Bros.
Summary: Originally an Italian plumber from Brooklyn, Mario accidentally stumbled into a mysterious pipe and ended up in the whimsical Mushroom Kingdom. It has been hinted several times that this isn't his first visit, as he seems to have some kind of connection with Bowser which originates back to their birth. However the story behind this rumor is unknown. Mario is a well connected and well-rounded person, playing the role of a physician, mathematician, and showing off skills in all sorts of sports, not the least of which is gymnastics.

Name: Link
Origin: Legend of Zelda
Summary: Link has many incarnations spanning throughout Hyrule's many eras, as the Triforce of courage is passed down from hero to hero. All forms have the same name, voice, appearance and mannerisms but they all seem to be uniquely separate persons. The original Link was a boy raised deep in the forest, who traveled through time to stop the evil yet seemingly immortal Ganondorf. However, his actions split the timestream in two, and Ganondorf lives on in both.
Link's current forms include the latest from both timestreams, as the original Hero of Time model remains dormant in Statis, though he was used during the two previous tournaments.

Summary: Fox is the leader of the elite mercenary squadron known as Star Fox. He inherited the throne from his deceased father, James McCloud, and made a name for himself in the Lylat system by defeating the tyrant known as Andross. He must be multitalented...because no pilot could possibly have such skills in both the air and on foot. His team members include Slippy Toad, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Krystal. He currently has an unannounced romantic interest in the latter.
He has a standing rivalry with the leader of a rival organization: Wolf O'Donnel of the Star Wolf team. It is rumored that the two were once friends, though a very unreliable source stated that Wolf was connected with James McCloud.

Origin: Earthbound
Summary: A young boy gifted from birth with a myriad of psychic powers, Ness sets out from his hometown of Onett in Eagleland to save the world from Gigas, now the alien embodiment of evil. Along the way, he encounters his other three allies and channels the power of the Earth through the eight mystical sanctuaries. With courage, wisdom, power and friendship, Ness fears no evil and wishes only to protect his friends and the world they inhabit.
He has a unique history with Pokey Minch, and their tales are both quirky and heartbreaking. It might also be worth noting that Lucas is Ness' descendant, as evidenced by his family heirloom, the Franklin Badge. It seems that the family is cursed to intertwine destinies with the childish yet pitiable entity known as Pokey Minch.

This particular species, also known as the "Electric Mouse," is capable of storing massive amounts of electricity in pockets within it's cheeks, and demonstrates the capability to channel this energy throughout it's entire body. Pikachu is a fast and dangerous creature, so Smashers beware.

Origin: Sonic the Hedgehog
Summary: The world's fastest thing alive, Sonic is also known as the blue blur. His speed is his greatest asset, and his main weapon against the incompitent dictator known as Eggman.
Few realize his surprisingly bleak past or the stories concerning his legendary speed and prior connection to Robotnik. The tale varies from canon to canon, but the most widely accepted story is that he was orphaned by Eggman and subsequently experimented on, resulting in his strong legs. In spite of this, he maintains a smile on his face and a song in his heart, though many despise him for his optimistic demeanor.

Origin: Metroid
Summary: The single survivor of a Space Pirate attack of a human colony. Samus witnessed her parents killed by the Space Dragon, Ridley, and was found and raised by the mysterious Chozo. In order to allow her to survive on their homeworld, the Chozo infused the human child with their blood, and as a final gift bestowed her with her trademark Power Suit. Samus Aran now wanders the galaxy as a bounty hunter, working primarily for the Galactic Federation against the dreaded parasitic creatures known as Metroids, as well as the hostile aliens who took her family from her.

Summary: One of the three clones of the famed Big Boss, (Naked Snake) Solid Snake words as an elite Special Operative of the U.S. based Fox unit. He is primarily known for destroying the Metal Gears and thwarting his clone brother, Liquid Snake. Boasting an impressive IQ of 180 and a mastery in several languages, Snake has lived his entire life following orders without question, and doesn't consider himself a true hero because of this fact. He frequently contemplates the futility of war without truly acting on his own thoughts, but such is the tragic yet necessary life of a soldier.

Name: Isaac
Origin: Golden Sun
Summary: In a world where the power of Alchemy is locked away, a select few individuals still possess the power of the world's natural elements. Isaac is one such Earth adept, set on a quest to save the world. He eventually discovers that he must unleash Alchemy into the world in order to save it, and eventually comes into possession of the embodiment of all four elements: The Golden Sun itself.

Name: Krysal
Origin: Starfox
Summary: The sole survivor of the now-dead planet of Cerinia, Krystal is a strong and kind individual carrying a burden unlike anything most of the Smashers could imagine. She sports an array of intuitive psychic powers and weilds a mysterious staff capable of all sorts of attacks, and has even recently shown aptitude for piloting. Despite her disposition, the blue vixen is not to be trifled with.
And a warning to all admirers: She's smitten with Fox McCloud.

Origin: Sin and Punishment
Summary: A young soldier and survivor of an assault launched by the Alien aggressors known as "Ruffians," Saki was brought back to life by his fellow rebels thanks to the infusion of Ruffian blood. With his increased vitality and athleticism and armed with his trademark weapon, the "Cannon Sword"--a beam weapon with both swordlike and firearm capabilities--he effortlessly fits into the Smash universe.

Summary: A headstrong young woman who lives on the plains, seeking retribution for her parents, slaughtered by bandits. During her quest, she discovers that she is in truth the heir to the Caein throne, and changes her objective for the good of the world. With her uncanny sword skills, Lyn is a silent, serious individual always ready to take a challenge.

Name: Wolf O'Donnel
Origin: Starfox
Summary: Leader of Starfox's rival unit, Wolf doubles as a bounty hunter, and works as an unremorseful gang leader in Lylat's Sargasso region. Star Wolf has a colorful cast of pilots, though none of them seemed to follow their leader into the Smash world. It is unknown how Wolf lost his left eye, but he now wears a powerful optic device, blaming Fox for the loss. As the vulpine's rival, Wolf strives to finally best him in aerial combat (to no avail), and constantly claims superiority over him.
Though he mostly only works for money, he is a very prideful and arrogant individual, which may be another reason for his ambiguous actions in the story.

Origin: Sonic the Hedgehog
Summary: The latest of brilliant geniuses in the Robotnik family name, Eggman boasts an "impressive" IQ of 300, (Which actually ONLY refers to how much he knows compared to his age) but is ironically much less intelligent that this fact suggests. Though the greatest scientific genius the world has ever known, Eggman constantly loses to nearly any adversary who challenges him, due in part to his lack of military and tactical knowledge. He continues to antagonize Sonic, but more out of rivalry than his original intent of world domination.

Name: Luigi
Origin: Mario Bros.
Summary: Also known as the Second Banana, Green Machine, eternal understudy, Mr. L, and "Hey you." Even though Luigi is kin to the Mushroom Kingdom's most famous hero (and studly plumber) he has yet to make a name for himself in the world, and many people end up forgetting his name or even that he exists at all. Over the years, though, Luigi has developed his jumping skills far beyond that of Mario, and has luckily gained a devoted fanbase of his own.
And yet...someone, somewhere, hinted that Luigi's inner darkness has grown tremendously during his painful neglect...what could this cryptic statement mean?

Origin: Super Mario Bros.
Summary: Peach is the typical damsel in distress, helpless and clumsy and dressed in pink. She always ends up getting kidnapped, and Mario always ends up saving her and being rewarded with a rather large cake. No one seems to have questioned how a human girl ended up being the princess of a kingdom of the fungal race known as Toads, or even the lack of a king or queen. Could this also be connected with the various characters' obscure pasts?
In recent days, she has been getting self-defense lessons, which are sure to come in handy during the tournament.

Name: Yoshi
Origin: Super Mario World
Summary: The term "Yoshi" actually refers to a species of Dinosaur Native to the aptly named "Yoshi's Island." Therefore, there doesn't seem to be any single Yoshi character.
Mario's first contact with the Yoshis actually occurred during his infancy; he somehow ended up in a parallel world, found by a Yoshi who watched over and cared for him, protecting him against the malevolent Baby Bowser. There has been stated to be some earlier connection between the two infants, but this mystery has yet to be clarified.

Summary: It has been the subject of many a debate, but most historians believe that the Donkey Kong seen in the arcade original was none other than the real Donkey Kong's father, Cranky Kong. Whatever the case, the ape (and presumably his family) has a long standing rivalry with the Plumber. Nevertheless, they aren't enemies, and have frequently joined together in friendly competition such as Tennis, Kart Racing, and even board games, it seems. (Mario Party.)
As one of Shigeru Miyamoto's earliest creations, Donkey Kong is one of the most widely recognizable game characters around.

Origin: Donkey Kong Country
Summary: Donkey's diminutive, agile little buddy made his first appearance on the SNES classic, during which he and DK faced the eccentric King K. Rool and his hoard of Kremlings, a reptilian race which seems bent on robbing DK of his bananas. Diddy has since come into his own as a character, weilding several unique weapons to compensate for his stature and even organizing his own racing tournament...which seems to have gained cult-classic status in early years.

Summary: The Princess of Hyrule and her alternate form, inspired by her ancestor's allies, the Shiekah. Though she constantly falls to Ganon's schemes, she possesses many supernatural powers stemming from her Triforce of Wisdom. While she has not proven herself in any canon storyline, in the Smash universe she is a force to be reckoned with; among the most deadly, as a matter of fact.
"Shiek" is likewise fast and unpredictable and painfully flexible. Imitating the moves and style of the stereotypical Ninja, Shiek is a surprisingly deadly and effective Smasher.

Origin: Zelda (Wind Waker)
Summary: While this same appearance can be found in the Four Swords series, this individual Link hails from the Great Sea, where the majestic nation of Hyrule once reigned. After the Hero of Time defeated Ganon several centuries ago, the demon mysteriously returned, and conquered the nation amidst their unanswered cries for help. Left with no other option, the sages sunk the land under the sea instead of allowing Ganon to rule.
Toon Link isn't a descendant of the Hero of Time (like all those in the other timeline) but he does eventually inherit the legendary master sword and take his place as the Hero of Winds.

Name: Young Link
Origin: Zelda (Ocarina of Time)
Summary: When the Hero of Time defeated Ganondorf, he was promptly returned to his own time period, where he aided Zelda in exposing the treacherous Warlock for who he really was. Shortly after watching him executed and banished by the sages (thus setting the scene for "Twilight Princess"), Young Link set off on a more personal adventure through Termina, facing off against the mysterious force known as Majora's Mask. He may not have discovered what Majora truly was, but he did gain a good inventory of shapeshifting masks.
After encountering Toon Link and TP Link, Young Link also carries the burden of knowing he split the timeline in two, and that his efforts against Ganondorf seem to have proven futile.

Summary: Once a member of an interstellar gang and now the ace pilot of the Lylat System's greatest mercenary force, Falco displays unrivalled flying skills, even surpassing that of Fox McCloud. As soldiers in reality, this enviable talent comes at the cost of his compitence as a footsoldier, which the rules of Smash gladly ignore. Proud and confident, Falco acts like the tough guy but is actually much softer than he cares to admit.

When even nature itself began to revolt to the impending evil, his entire world turned upside down at the cause of the immortal time-traveller called King Pokey. But with his newfound gift of psychic abilities, Lucas was charged with removing the seven pins to awaken the Dragon beneath the island and save all that he knows and loves; once this task was completed, his brother, Klaus woke from Pokey's mind control and passed away, leaving a testament of loyalty and friendship to the new world the Dragon of Nowhere island created.

His powers border on metaphysical, and prove very beneficial to the team.

Summary: The obnoxious Captain of Palutena's guard. According to legend, two worlds representing Heaven and Hell are ruled by the deities Palutena, and Medusa, respectively. While Palutena, the deity of light, is a caring, compassionate figure, Medusa was a malevolent, pernicious entity, whom Palutena punished for her transgressions. In retaliation, Medusa launched an attack to sink Skyworld into the underworld, and in order to fight against the Underworld's queen, Pit was bestowed with a special weapon that can be used as a bow, a glaive, or even two separate swords. With it, he challenged the darkness and emerged victorious.

Summary: The Robot Operating Buddy doesn't need a video game origin to leap headfirst into the fray. Originally a part of every purchase of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, ROB emerged in the mid to late eighties as one of Nintendo's earliest icons. That title was short lived, however, thanks to the advent of a particular plumber.
However...his appearance is an encouraging sign that Nintendo hasn't forgotten their roots.

Summary: One of the two Pokemon without natural origins, Mewtwo is regarded as the most powerful and most dangerous Pokemon to ever walk the earth. He's also the most evil; his emotional inbalance...and his very existence, as a matter of fact...is a result of gene splicing and modifications made to the DNA of the elusive Pokemon, Mew. Mewtwo is one of the few pokemon capable of speech and sentient thought, and has shown that he is capable of far more fiersome feats than other Psychic pokemon.

Name: Pokey Minch (Envy)

Summary: Pokey is a tragic character, plagued by an odd combination of his genius and his own insecurity. During his days as a normal boy, he was neighbor and friend to the legendary hero, Ness. But as a spoiled, rotund, and unathletic child, Pokey was fated to always be upstaged by his red-hatted best friend. As the years dragged on, this inferiority complex soon turned to envy, and eventually to resentment. As fate would have it, the two became enemies, as Pokey joined forces with the very entity Ness was destined to fight: Giygas, the cosmic destroyer. Ness finally won the battle, and Pokey escaped through time and space to amass an army worthy of his genius. Since he existed outside of regular existence, however, he soon became immortal, and he aged frighteningly fast, although his phsyical form remained, and his mind retained its childlike state.
After a similar failure against Ness' descendant, Lucas, Pokey locked himself in the "absolutely safe capsule," never again to see the light of day...or so they thought.

I'm sorry but there are many things written here that are incorrect.

Mario was never from Brooklyn. That concept was created over in North America for comics and cartoons. This has never been stated in the video games. And it suggests that Mario has always lived in the Mushroom Kingdom.



I believe there is in fact one particular Yoshi that is unique from the rest. The Yoshis from Yoshi's Island are all different, but the green one we see today in all the Mario games is always the same Yoshi. There is one individual Yoshi named "Yoshi".



ROB does actually have an origin. According to the NES game Gyromite, Prof. Vector created ROB to help him in his lab.



And I believe its spelled "Claus" not Klaus. Its supposed to be a jumble of the name "Lucas"
