l:.Backdrop and Info.:l

The Smashers' origins
The Smashers are really seperate entities from their real selves.... For example, Mario of the Smash World and Mario of the Mushroom Kingdom.

They have two bodies. One they have in their own worlds, and one that Master Hand creates to exist in the Smash World. Side note, however, none of the Smashers know this or realize it.

They have memories from all of their adventures and such in their worlds, but they also have memories exclusive to their time in the Smash world. So they just think that they are being transported from their world to the Smash World when really their Smash bodies are waking up from 'statis'.

This also applies to the villains.

Giga Bowser
Giga Bowser was unleashed during the 2nd tournament (Melee) after Bowser was exposed to the chaotic energy of Crazy Hand. The mutated Koopa King then attempted to destroy everything in his path and nearly suceeded before Master Hand used the Virtue Jewels to seperate Giga Bowser from Bowser, sealing the monster into a distortion in time.

Added characters:
Several characters, we felt, were very deserving of securing a spot on the Smash roster, but because of time and budget constraints, we understand that Sakurai was not able to fill many of these requests.
We, however, not limited by such things, may be able to add more.

On another site, called Gaiaonline, I presented another alternate storyline to AOB, which he consequently turned into a roleplay. During this time, Bossman and I carefully analyzed possible entrants to add to the roster. However...we were very, very careful and thoughtful with our decisions, and here is a handful of smashers we decided on:

-Saki Amamiya: Sakurai said himself that Saki would have fit right in with the smash. But Sin and Punishment was never released in the US, so it's chances were already low. However...he seems to be a widely recognizable character in Japan.
-Isaac: Golden Sun was a somewhat well-established series, discontinued only because of an obscure dispute of the developers, who held numerous rights to the series and characters. This may be the main reason Golden Sun got no representation. Even so, most who were presented with the idea, if not all, agreed that Isaac would have made a spectacular addition.
-Krystal: I think I know why Sakurai excluded her: the furries.
Even so, she made it to number 4 on the top-ten most wanted list, yet Wolf (number 7) got in over her. Furthermore, Sakurai himself said he should have added more female characters. Life goes on, but she gets her chance here in Virtue and Sin.
-Ridley: He made a Boss appearance, but he was also one of the Top Ten. The "size" argument is null and void because he could have been scaled down like most characters. It was likely that he would have been playable if it weren't for the Adventure Mode.
-Tom Nook: Animal Crossing got many references and representatives, but none of them playable. Tom Nook, though not one of the top ten, was also a highly requested character.
-Lyn: To be quite honest...Lyn was somewhat of an arbitrary choice. A certain unnamed "acquaintance" of ours on Gaia requested her entry. Even though she's a bit obscure, she marks the beginning of the Fire Emblem series here in the states, and is a decent character to use. Also...keep in mind the "more female characters" point.

===

So why would I bring these guys up? Even though they evidently won't be playable here in Virtue and Sin, they may or may not have significant roles in the storyline, and will undoubtedly enter as Assist Trophies or temporary allies.

More details on this later. For now I should hand the mic over to Bossman.

This topic has been dead for way too long.

So here's my contribution.....this is more brainstorming than anything else, since I'm under the impression the story is not yet complete.

Actually...to avoid any potential spoilers I'll request AOB's permission before moving on.

Master Hand's Origins: ---

Smashers' Origins: ---

Master/Crazy's connection: ---

Smash World's Origins: ---

*Subspace and Ancient Minister: ---

Etcetra.
* indicates that the subject may not even be included.

That... is amazing. Really an awesome detail of the story.

Will there ever be a moment when the Smashers realize this? That could make for a pretty intense moment, when they realize that none of them are the real deal... they'd have to embrace their role as people created to fight, or give up and be destroyed. Truly epic.

Oh, you think so? Ah, thank you!
Yes, at a certain point of the game, they will come to realization of what they are.
The villains in the story already have and their way of dealing with this is what they have been doing in the plot.

Ah...
The storyboard team (which I'm a part of) will work hard to really make that scene as intense as it should be. We'll also have to think how this would affect the characters' actions after that too.

This thread needs some slight editting.

On a side note, almost finished with the outline. Once we do, we can start orchestrating the actual development of the game itself.

Glad to hear it. =) It'd been quiet here for a -little- while and my updates are still a bit off from posting yet. So it's always encouraging to hear progress from any of the team.

That's because we're working on the outline.
Once we're finished with that...we'll be able to figure out EXACTLY what we're going to do. Lists of songs, sprites, environments, programming...everything.

By the looks of it, the end(beginning) is in sight, if you know what I mean.

Once we are ready, we'll notify everyone personally.
