"Tail Between The Legs"

[Captain Rhiana t'Valdran]

"Captain's log, supplemental. The Hamilton has been scanning the Kavis binary system for two weeks now, and we're wrapping things up. One more scan and we'll be heading back to base for resupply and our new mission. End log." Rhi leaned back in the command chair, and sighed. Two weeks of mindless science and exploration allowed her to examine her life, and especially her relationship with Jason. And just as she was about to lapse into deeper introspection, the Ops console began chiming. "Captain, there's an odd energy reading coming from the outermost planet. Things are going off the scale," Lieutenant Koral reported, idly scratching the ridges on her nose. Her voice took on more alarm though, as she looked at the readings once again. "Captain, we've got a subspace shock wave incoming. Time to arrival, one minute, twenty seconds." Standing, Rhi slapped at a control on the armrest. "Craz to all crewmembers, brace for impact. Go to Red Alert!" Klaxons blared and the bridge acquired blood-red tones. "Helm, steer the ship into the shock wave. It'll present a smaller profile. Shields to maximum, boost energy to the inertial dampeners and structural integrity fields." Rhi then sat back down as the shock wave got closer. "Direct available sensors to scan the wave. I want some decent analysis so we can look at it la-" was as far as she got before the collision, which slammed into the Hamilton and knocked a lot of the crew to the floor. Rhi felt her side hit the chair, and let out an "Oof!" I'll be lucky if all I have is some bruising she thought. "Ops," she said through gritted teeth. "Send a message to Starbase Republic, and upload the sensor information. Also let them know we may have a repeating shock wave chain reaction."

[Commander T'Lessa]

So far it had been a fairly quiet day around Timorel and Starbase Republic...which is why the blip on the sensor grid caught T'Lessa's attention. Is that...? She looked closer.

"Captain...we're picking up a shockwave in subspace..."

[Captain Jason M. Craz]

"A shockwave?" He asked. "What's the source?"

[Commander T'Lessa]

"One moment." T'Lessa checked the sensors, tweaking the resolution a little. "It looks like the Kavis system." She looked up, eyebrow raised. "Hamilton is out there."

[Captain Jason M. Craz]

"Get them on the emergency frequency!" He barked out.

[Commander T'Lessa]

"Aye, si--Never mind. Signal coming in from the Hamilton...it's her captain."

[Captain Rhiana t'Valdran]

=^=Hamilton to Republic. Have you guys gotten the information we sent?=^= Rhi winced as she gingerly touched her side, letting out a slow hiss of breath. Lieutenant Koral handed her a PADD with the preliminary damage report. All things considered, Hamilton got off lucky, with some stressing of the hull and other minor damage. But, nothing that couldn't be patched up and gotten to work as good as new.

"What the hell caused this, Rhi?" Jason asked.

[Captain Rhiana t'Valdran]

"Fvadt if I know, Captain. I just got up from being slammed around. Once I get a little more info from my crew, we'll begin investigating. Heads up, though, because the shock waves are going to hit Republic. Whether or not they dissipate is the question."

[Commander T'Lessa]

=^=We're already picking up at least one of those shockwaves, coming in ahead of you.=^=

[Captain Rhiana t'Valdran]

=^=My Ops Officer informs me that we're ready to get underway. We're going to head to the origin of the shock wave, and we'll report once we have something to report.=^=

[Captain Jason M. Craz]

"Very well. T'Lessa, get the emergency crews onto active duty. We're doing the usual."

[Commander T'Lessa]

"Aye, sir. Emergency crews on standby for battle stations...engineering team reporting to the Interceptor to get her ready."

[Captain Jason M. Craz]

"Also, get the Chief up here!" He ordered.

[Commander T'Lessa]

T'Lessa nodded, opening a station wide channel.

[Captain Rhiana t'Valdran]

=^=Commander, my science officer is reporting some ships near the location of the planet that exploded. Our ship is heading there now, and as soon as-=^=

"Captain, it appears that we are now being jammed, and all outside communications have been ended."

Rhi looked down at her console and swore violently.

[Lieutenant Leya Shaw]

After a few minutes, Leya speedwalked out of the turbolift, hair pulled back into a quick ponytail, uniform on but not inspection-ready.

"What do you want, Captain?" She asked, a little out of breath and bleary-eyed.

[Captain Jason M. Craz]

"A subspace shockwave's about to hit the station in a matter of hours. We need the shields up and running at...oh, say, triple capacity?"

[Commander T'Lessa]

"Triple should be enough, sir. And there may be more than one wave."

[Lieutenant Leya Shaw]

"Want me to fine-tune quantum slipstream drive while I'm at it?" Leya asked, before fully getting what was being said. Great. I'm going to be ass-deep in the station's systems, working with my head right by a fricking EPS distribution node in order to get this accomplished.
