Naming Ceremony

[Elaina Morganth]

The entire promenade had been closed down of Elaina's "Naming Ceremony." Several of Betazed's high society were present--among them, of course, was Lwaxana Troi and representatives from many of the planet’s Houses. They lined the balcony above and crowded in the bottom, watched as Elaina named her successor, Lauri and Olis’s baby daughter, Kiri.

“Little one, you have been chosen.” The old woman picked her tiny granddaughter up and gently brushed her forehead with a leaf. “May you be a strong and gracious leader one day.”

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

Olis leaned over to Lauri. "This is...so weird..." She whispered.

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

"That's a Betazoid ceremony for you." Lauri shook her head. She had to restrain herself from snatching her daughter away. She felt like this was so wrong.

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

"Hey, where's Andy?" Olis asked. "I haven't seen him for ages now."

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

"I don't know," Lauri mumbled distractedly. "He's somewhere in the crowd I'm sure. There’s so many bloody people here, I doubt I would’ve seen you if you weren’t standing right beside me.”

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

"You know, you could take some deep breaths...It always helps me."

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

Lauri nodded and attempted to take Olis's advise. She was never comfortable around crowds; the larger they were, the worse she felt. "I wish she'd bloody hurry up," she muttered.

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

Sorry, imzadi, Olis sent as Elaina started to wrap up her ceremony.

[Elaina Morganth]

"Let it be known that Kiri Morganth is my successor. When she comes of age, this child will carry on in my place, becoming the fifth Morganth to rule the Third House."

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

"If she chooses you," Lauri said under her breath.

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

Olis kissed Lauri gently, trying to calm her wife. "Shh...We know she won't."

[Elaina Morganth]

"I will be proud to give you this ring one day," Elaina murmured, gently kissing the infant's forehead. Thus the ceremony was finished.

[Lieutenant Commander Olis Kiyas]

"See, it's over. You can go get Kiri now." Olis whispered to her. "Oh, hey, Andy!"

[Andrus tr'Raith]

Andy walked through the crowd towards the two women. "Bloody hell, it's packed in here.." He mumbled.

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

"I know, I can barely stand it," Lauri answered and began pushing past people to get to her mother and daughter.

[Andrus tr'Raith]

Andy followed Lauri, politely moving people away from her so as to help Lauri get to her daughter faster.

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

Lauri smiled a little. "Thanks, Andy." Finally, when they made it to the front, Lauri headed straight for her mother with her arms out. "Alright, Mother. You've had your fun. I'll take her now."

[Elaina Morganth]

"Of course," Elaina gently handed over the infant, eyeing her daughter with a bit of concern. "Are you feeling alright, dear?"

[Lieutenant Laurina Morganth]

"I'm fine. I just need my baby. Come here, sweetie..." Lauri hugged Kiri gently.

[Andrus tr'Raith]

Andy politely folded his hands behind his back, nodding to Elaina. "It was a well-performed ceremony, M'Lady Morganth."
