Mario Vs Sonic., The Ultimate Showdown!

This is not about "who would win in a fight". This is about who is the better hero.
I'm going to say Mario, and its not just because being an Eggman fan I automatically hate Sonic. I think Mario is a better hero because he is just a nice guy. In this day and age of anti-heroes and heroes with problems *grown* A good old-fashioned good guy is just nice to see.

Mock me if you will but I think Mario is cool.

I'm sure most people have seen the popular flash movie Mario vs Sonic from Video Game Directors Cut. But this situation, (In which Sonic and Mario fights) has crossed my mind on several occasions.

First of all, Mario's got his basic moves. Jumping, shooting fireballs, magic cape and what have you. Plus he can become invincible temporarily by touching a super star. There's also all the different suits and stuff he wears but there's too many to list.

Sonic's got some moves that include the homing attack, as well as somersaults and various other ball type moves, including the spindash. There's also, more obviously, his super speed. Sonic is invincible as long as he can supply himself with rings while in super form. Also needed is 7 Chaos Emeralds or 7 Super Emeralds.

Mario, with all the abilities and power attacks, would rely mostly on his strength in battle. I would also imagine him to be very slow.

Sonic would go for the speedy attacks and use more of an evasive strategy.

Mario can only stand to be hit twice. After the first hit, he'll shrink down to Mini-me Mario and then he's pretty much screwed. Because of this he'd have to go a long time without being hit.

Sonic can be hit as many times as he wants as long as he has at least one ring. And one ring's all you need for most cases. Sonic would be most vulnerable at the start of the match when he's left cold and ringless.

Unfortunately for Mario, his best chance of beating Sonic would be to come out swinging and get in one good hit before Sonic could grab a ring. Unfortunately for Mario, he loves pasta and as such couldn't really pull off a quick assult. Especially while Sonic's doing laps around the poor guy.

Sonic however, just needs to spend a lot of time getting rings and avoiding Mario to build up a defensive strategy to win. The longer the battle gets drawn out, the better chances for victory.

Unless Mario used one of his special suits, he would probably lose in a straight out battle. However! Hedgehogs are known for having exceptionaly small brain sizes, so Mario could use the Tanooki suit, become a statue, and surprise attack Sonic. Or he could just throw on a frog suit and jump in the water. Sonic would rather surrender than get wet.

I think in a battle, Sonic would win. However as far as being a better hero is concerned...

I still think Sonic. Mostly because of what MK already said. Sure Mario's an all around nice guy, and he's saved more than a few princesses in his time. But he's gotten a bit lazy to me. Sure he goes out on the occasional adventure, but he's been seen (Especialy more nowadays.) doing nothing short of lounging. He plays tennis, golf, kart racing, soccer (In his latest game.), and he's had countless parties.

I miss the old games where he'd go around workin' it and bashing up bricks with his head. I hope he gets another adventure game soon.

Because he's got a hammer, it'd be like playing Croket(SP?)... Oh hold up... That's Amy.. and Donkey Kong.. Hmm..

Well, Mario's got that whole arsenal of kid-friendly weaons. Like F.L.U.D.D..

Oh yeah! That's how Mario would win.. Because since Sonic HATES water, Mario would just stray him with water... Or throw hammers at him while in a Hammer Turtle Koopa costume.. Like in Super Mario 3 World 6..or 7.
