The plot: Set when Kirk, Spock and company were young and the Enterprise was new, the story involves a raging Romulan (Bana) who can travel through time wreaking havoc.

Hot or not?: The "Star Trek" franchise would seem to have been attacked by the ultimate aliens: audience disinterest and declining quality. But Abrams (Lost, Cloverfield, Alias, Fringe) and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Mission Impossible III) promised to make "ST" live long and prosper again. They’ve tried to do that by dispensing with Shatner and Nimoy (though the latter shows up) and making it all about when their characters were just out of Star Fleet Academy. It might not be spring break on Bourbon Street but it’s probably as close as any self-respecting Vulcan would want to get. Unless word-of-mouth is toxic, this should be huge.
