Title: what makes you reading a manga?

sweetiecreamy - November 8, 2008 07:11 AM (GMT)
Apart from the storyline, I emphasize the style of artwork!! At first glance, I think the style of drawing can be relevant..
:happy I quite enjoy a delicate artwork, for instance "The Prince's cactus" is so fine!! :yay :party

Candi - November 8, 2008 02:58 PM (GMT)
This goes in the Manga section, dear <3

And yeah, art draws me in more than anything.
it could have the most amazing plot in the whole world but if i dont like the art, i dont read it.

schizyorphan - November 8, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
I would have to say the fact that it gets my mind off my own life. xD I like daydreaming about the plot if the plot is really good. Beautiful artwork is another plus. :)

lilaznemogrl - November 11, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
i read the storyline first and if it's interesting i will read it like if there was something about about a jealous boy friends or a unrequited love from a guy to a girl

freddo - November 12, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
I like the artwork, the stories and the character developments that you get in manga

1shot - November 12, 2008 08:49 AM (GMT)
What makes me read certain mangas would be the description given or the cover. I just want to know what this manga has to offer (story wise)
I 'm also quite strict with the arts, but some mangas I do respect even with crappy arts.

kayleevue234 - November 12, 2008 05:34 PM (GMT)
because of the artwork and story line it's a major +

ChaosRagnak - November 12, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
To be honnest, yes the artwork does make me wanna check the manga out, but usualy, i always gives the manga, ANY manga a chance. i usualy read a few chapters and even if the artwork is crappy i'll still like it for the story. i prefer a good plotthen good art. you can imagine better artwork in your mind but you can't really create the own plotline yourself, otherwise why read the manga?

kira2456 - November 13, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
Plot is the most important, then art. Genre and mangaka have a factor, but they don't prevent me from choosing what to read.

meilyssa - November 14, 2008 03:46 PM (GMT)
i usually look at the genre first. then i sometimes decide if the title sounds interesting. i read what the story's about then i look at the art.
:happy

animelvr - November 27, 2008 07:49 PM (GMT)
it's actually really easy for me to read a manga. i just have to like the storyline and it has to be completed. Well, sometimes I don't follow the latter...

dave20 - November 30, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
Becose there are things or situation that would never happend in real life. :??

wishs - November 30, 2008 03:02 AM (GMT)
THE STYLE THE ARTIST USES FO SHO. ALTHO THE STORYLINE IS ALSO IMPORTANT :uhh I LIKE ROMANTIC COMEDIES THE BEST :music

sk8tergirl - December 1, 2008 05:14 AM (GMT)
what attracted me to read a manga is the artwork. If the artwork is nice, I will be interested in reading, however, I won't start reading it until I check out the little summary description of the story. If it seems interesting, only then will I start to read it.

yunxin123 - December 1, 2008 05:43 AM (GMT)
How they draw the ppl and just by reading the summary

catt101 - December 1, 2008 11:39 AM (GMT)
I just read the summary and look at the picture shown with it and decided if I should read it or not, so art and whats written about it

xesha - December 2, 2008 04:47 AM (GMT)
well the story line has to be good and kinda corny but not too much
and the drawing's important.. i don't mind if the story line is good but the drawing's aren't fabulous..
i guess as long as it engages me i'll read it :P

kana503 - December 2, 2008 06:21 AM (GMT)
Plot is almost everything for me. Of course, there are series where there isn't an amazing plot but it has really great characters (ex. Yotsuba, Chii's Sweet Home, etc.). If the plot and characters are only average, good art would keep my interest. For example, +Anima doesn't have the greatest plot or characterization, but the art is nice.

simarillion - December 2, 2008 07:33 AM (GMT)
My first impression/basis would be artwork. It's very important to me that I judge a book by its cover so to speak. But sadly that always steers me away from really good series that I only find out are good later on. But really, the story line is just so important though as well. Those like Skip Beat have a perfect blend that does not bore readers.

inci881125 - December 2, 2008 05:58 PM (GMT)
:star

ira03 - December 23, 2008 03:36 PM (GMT)
it's summary, the author and the drawings... i mean either of it.. if i like the summary but not the author or the drawings.. that's ok.. something like that... :kiss

bluewhale9 - December 23, 2008 07:56 PM (GMT)
I mainly like a manga by the mangaka and story but if the art is really bad i wont go near it but if the art is really good i might read it possible but I often like to see mangas from same mangakas just to see more of their work and I also love finding new mangas i like but also plot is important to me too

~Miruru-chan~ - December 24, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
Well....I used to watch animes since i was 7 years old!!!So, when i found out what a manda is, i bought one and i can't without it!!! :yay

Aisei - December 25, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
I think the first thing I like of a manga is the art, and then I keep reading it if the storyline is good enough. But sometimes I read manga because I previously know the storyline is good.

GScroeder - December 25, 2008 07:13 PM (GMT)
well i think the reason that i am reding mangas is out of curiosity i guess and i kinda like the drawings. And sometimes I read manga because I previously know the storyline is good.

lyddie200 - December 25, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
Definitely the Art work is the first thing i look at! i noe you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, in this case the art work, but to be honest i really can't make myself read a manga if the artwork isn't nice. i usually go through series and if i see some nice artwork i stop and read the story description, thats usually how i pick xP

nurfirdhaus - December 25, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
I will read the storyline first and look at the cover of the manga. If i thinkits interesting then i will start reading it...the artwork also played the important role..

kraceemonkey - December 26, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
The plot and oh the art!

vnm - December 26, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
First, I see the art. Second, I consider the plot.
There are some manga I hate and never ever read them. FOr eg, (this may be offensive) Mayu Shinyo. i really really hate her work, for the art looks awful and the plot is quite stupid and light-hearted. Also, some manga although the art is not good but I still like coz of its good plot: Itazura na Kiss

chocofondue - December 26, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
the first thing that makes me interested is the drawing...
the thing that makes me continue on reading it is the story...
:hw

vietangelix - December 26, 2008 03:38 AM (GMT)
The summaries and the artwork....
Sometimes it's the mangaka that makes me watch it>_>

enysas - December 26, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
reading manga makes me happy :)

camaji - December 26, 2008 05:37 AM (GMT)
Content, not really the artwork although that helps. Story lines that are too clique, or with too many Mary Sue characters, I dont bother with. So tired of the "I throw myself in a car fro you!" type of characters because its not realistic, and the character who everyone loves, and the only thing standing between her and her one true love is a guy who likes her! Or her best friend who also loves the guy she likes. urgh.

Anyway, I like refreshing story lines that give something more, and that are unique and worth reading, and not with people who are just doing the same plot over and over again. Oh, and not with authors who just milk series *coughnarutocough* when it should end. I guess I like short mangas XD

karulann - December 26, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Well basically it's to forget all the bullshit :-) the works and just to destress at the end of the day..

Kurohime - December 26, 2008 05:45 PM (GMT)
What makes me read manga aka why do i read manga at all ^_^ :P
1. I like reading :P
2. I enjoy reading good things :P
3. I like being able to think more and develop/continue plot myself (aka work for imagination :P) and manga gives me enough chances to expand my imagination with new plots, turns, charas :PP
4. I read, 'cause i don't need to think about real life problem while i'm into it :PPP

What makes me read maga aka how do i choose manga :P
1. Drawing style. I very rarely read manga/manhwa if i don't like how it's drawn. And i can read the most senseless one if it's drawn good *drools*
2. Summary. If summary is promising, there's no way i won't give this certain manga a try XD
3. If it's the work of mangaka/manhwaka, whose other works i enjoyed :PP

tartaruga - December 26, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
usually I look for mangas at mangaupdates... the 1st thing I see is the genre, then the cover (since it takes longer to download xD)... then I read the plot and finally I look at who drew it

nonobi - December 27, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
For me the thirst thing is the drawing, if it is not very well drawn, It will not interests me.
Then the plot, I do not really like "easy reading manga", for me that means that the characters have to have a strong personality, a past, something that makes them more "human". Sometimes I like also comic josei like haa haa or itadakimasu. I think this autor is greatly talented!

villa_lore - December 27, 2008 03:51 AM (GMT)
The first thing is the art of the drawings, they must be good, otherwise only a good story can make me read a manga with a poor drawing.
The second thing is the story, must be appealing to me!
And finally the genre is important to me, cause I don't read everything I'm picky with the things I read :twirl !

Di27 - December 27, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
for me its all about the genre it must have romance or shoujo as a genre
and maybe the drawing styles aswell sometimes i dont like the old drawing styles i prefer the new ones (^_^)

thesimpsons - December 27, 2008 07:01 AM (GMT)
What gets me hooked is the plot or even an interesting cover.
