Ugh. Sorry if I'm making too many topics of recommended shounen-ai/yaoi mangas. It's just...so hard to resist when I have so many I've gone insanely fangirly over.

This one also contains sex scenes, but doesn't show anything either (in truth, I think you see them kiss, then they're lying in bed after the acts are done only).

Title: Totally Captivated
Mangaka: Yoo Ha Jin (so, it's technically a manhwa)
Status: 6 volumes (complete); +2 (or 3) Doujinshis
Licensed: Yes; NetComics
Summary: (from mangaupdates.com)
The mafia threatens Ewon into working for a loan shark, where he's forced to run dangerous errands for no pay. The culprit who doomed Ewon to this life is none other than Jiho, Ewon's jealous ex who still burns at Ewon's infidelity. Their gang leader Mookyul, with movie-star good looks and the bizarre, drunken habit of biting people on the neck, takes a keen interest in his attractive new errand boy. Will Ewon be able to survive the violent underworld (not to mention the constant sexual harassment he must endure) as an underling of Mookyul?

My Opinion
This is actually my second most favorite shounen-ai/yaoi series, ever so slightly behind Finder Series by Yamane Ayano. There's so much more to this series than what's plainly there on the surface. Even with what's just on the surface though, this series is absolutely enjoyable. It's a tearjerker, heart wrenching, comedic romance type of series. You'll cry, laugh and love the characters to pieces (well, I disliked the seme for a period of time). A truly must read for anyone who claim to be a shounen-ai or yaoi fan (although, I have come across a few who simply detested it...and the mangaka ended the series earlier than expected due to fans bashing her). u__u It breaks my heart.

ending spoiler image (cause it's absolutely adorable)

<333 nooo, we can never have enough recommended BL manga threads <3
I spend most of my time on RL anyways so adding a little entertainment aint bad ^^

I read this too :] Someone recommended it to me and I fell in love :'D There were sooo many times where I felt pain in my chest due to this manga >_< The art was rather pretty so I definitely could read it over and over. It made me laugh too ^_^
Darn those fans >__> And lol, Ayano Yamane is completely amazing too :] I'd have to say that my single favorite yaoi mangaka/artist would be her. Though...I prefer the Viewfinder series and Totally Captivated equal~ TC needed more smex. And I personally thought that VF needed a bit less ^^' But no matter. As long as it's Ayano Yamane, I love everything from her.

Mm, well, TC was more plot-centric (although some fans argued by saying it's plotless) than it was buttsmex intensive. VF was more...well, at the beginning, it was a lot more plotless, humor and buttsmex...then the Hong Kong arc happened, Yamane-sensei got depressed and the story just got super depressive. u___u

I wish Yoo Ha Jin went further into Ewon's past. I would've loved to see the struggles of Mookyul and Ewon as Ewon tries to battle over it (rather than just saying he's over it by word of mouth). I think a few more volumes would've been good to add to the series (more background history of the two)...and explain stuff like...what really happened to Mookyul to make him so super attached to Ewon's words even though the president was kind enough to take him in and raise him (and then the nasty old man became a flippin' pedo...but...*cough*). *shrugs* I really would've liked some more in depth stories about our two love birds from TC.

Ah, so true, so true.
I really liked the idea of Target in VF though. If there was more plot, I would be all over it >< I wish it went deeper.

As for TC, I really liked it:] I wish it was longer though o:
If it was, that'd probably give the author more time to develop the storyline like what happened inthe past and etc. But I still think it worked out really well ^_^
The pedo man...-shudders- Something about their relationship in general was....(imo, i guess) wrong in so many ways. Not in the typical ways that come to mind but....-shudders- something about it just raises the hair on my arms and legs <_<' Scares me just thinking about it. Don't take me wrong, I've read about old-young relationships but this just crossed a line >_> Can't quite describe it. Do you get what I mean though? o-o Or am i the only one? T_T

Lol. I think I get what you're saying. In my culture (if I were living back in Laos/Thailand rather than the US), 14-18 year old girls end up getting married to 40+ year old men (but then again, that's because in my culture, wives are bought by a sum of money the parents make up and if the husband can pay, then the girl has no choice)...so the old-young thing, although I don't really like myself, I'm okay with. Lol. It just doesn't surprise me anymore.

I think what made their relationship (Mookyul and the old man) even worse for me, aside from the fact that Mookyul kept calling him "dad" and the old man supposedly "adopted" him (and for crying out loud, he probably started doing Mookyul before he even became legal) was just...ugh. My stomach was barely able to hold it in properly. xD And, to make it even worse, Mookyul letting him do it on HIS and EWON'S bed was just...infuriating. *sigh*

But...I do wish she continued it. She probably would have, but those jerks who disliked the series and flamed her endlessly about it got the better of her. It's unfortunate that she had to get depressed over it, since it was such a great story...but oh well. I'd love to try and find her email and express my gratitude to her for writing such a great story.

o-o Wow, that's....I totally don't want to be offensive in anyway when I say this....really cool in a way. I didn't think that still happened. But uh, then again, I live in a bubble >_>' Maybe that's why.

I'm not real surprised or shocked about age as much as...their relations o-o It's....hard to explain. But I mean, you do mention some things that I'm thinking about. I mean, there's just so many things I find...interesting...about the whole picture. Btw. Did you think Mookyul was the uke in that relationship or the seme? o-o I had this constant feeling that he was the uke.

O_O Wait, who? The author of TC? o-o What, really? D:: I totally didnt know this >< That suuuucks! What were those donkeywholes flaming her about? o-o

Lol. Don't worry. I don't take offense to anything in relation to my culture. I just find a good lot of it dumb since it's one of those cultures that portrays women as second class and property of men (daughters are property of fathers until bought by their husbands).

I'm sure Mookyul was uke in the relationship with his adopted father. Just about everything they did hinted at that fact. Plus, the relationship started when Mookyul was still a child, so there's no way an old man like him would let himself get done in by a kid. LOL. Too much man pride in that (plus he was Mookyul's sugar daddy). When Ewon walked in on them where the old man was "fixing" Mookyul's tie too...the old guy was way basically "topping" him in that scene too.

As for the fans who made her stop writing...I'm not sure what they said, but it was to the point where she cried about it too. Someone translated a bit of an extra or her blog or something where she brought it up. She had mentioned something about how it had hurt her so bad she cried and decided to quickly end the series. u___u
