Well, after watching The Prince of Tennis, or should I say, while beggining to watch it, I became obsessed with playing the game. I always played Top Spin for the X-Box and watched any Opens and shat, on the tele, but once I found the anime, I became more than compelled to play.

I actually started out, for the first serious time, playing fairly well. My serve was fast and strong, accuracy was about 30%, and I could hit some nice lobs, and drop shots.

The forehand, backhand, and smash....were a disgrace though. Can't still do 'em well enough even to do this day, but my serve has increased in power and speed, makes it almost impossible to return, and the accuracy helps too, as it's about a 50/50 chance that it will go in, and be counted/seen in. LOL It's that fast, sometimes.

im not too good myself, but my forehand is pretty decent. im working on my backhand and service, which is accurate but slow.

Yeah, that's the problem with my serve, and I'm playing against someone, if I miss the first, I only have the second to rely on, but sicne I'm not too accurate with my serves, it makes it harder to try and do it again. =\

But, damn, you're lucky. I'd give my serve for a froehand, or backhand.

well im not much of a tennis player, but i play good for a beginner.

well not a beginner now, since ive been playing for over a year. and yeah, i know what you mean. if i get a fault with my first serve, im screwed, cause most prolly the next will be fault too, and dble fault gives my opponent the point. thats how i lose. but if i get the first one right, then i stand a chance of winning the point.

Couldn't agree more with you on serves. happy.gif

I've only played since last month, I believe but my serve would be at least amatuer-pro if it had more accuracy.

that is why i do slow serves. that way, it lands inside the box, no fault, and then i play hard forehands... and only if im winning do i try for a hard serve.

My serve is my trump card though. It's the thing I'm best at, and hardly ever gets returned. If I had at least a decent backhand or forehand, than maybe I'd slack off on serves more until my game improved overall. But, for now, all I got is my serves, lobs, volley, and drop shots, and the last three can't be used too often, since it'd be easy to tell when I was going for 'em, and stuff. =\

a simple way to improve your backhand and forehand is playing against a wall. just hit the ball at the wall and practice. thats what i did initially. even while practicing soccer goalkeeping, i would kick the ball at the wall hard and get it to rebound back at me, so that i could catch it.
or i would just tell some guy to take penalty kicks so that i could practice.

Yeah, but there's no wall for that kind of thing anywhere near me or my park. Or, else I would've been. And, as for someone else to play or practice with, I only know of my mom's boyfriend, but he's only here on weekends, and rarely plays - I'm so not gonna be that kind of father-figure-person.

And, only I know of two olde people who occassional play, but I don't know when, and than I see a group family come but they look like your typical white family who looks down on people and shit.

I already said one, and really the only one: My mom's boyfriend. He's only down on weekends, and rarely plays now.

With colde weather I suppose it doesn't help since he lives somewhere more warm, and all but still....Just me practicing serves by myself gets me no where if I can't play someone who can return something and give me a chance to return theirs and continue play. =\

My neice no longer likes to learn from me neither. She used to go with me to play a little, but now she only wants to go to the park's slides and all. >_<

My sister and mom could play but they're not really literate in the game, and can't hardly play anyway. My only friend doesn't really like it, let alone says a thing about it - plus his knees are not properly ready for something like tennis; besides he wouldn't take it seriously anyway.

Guess it's just me and my days serving to get more accurate and stronger with it. =\

LOL, i pity you.

over here, in my neighborhood, there are soo many tennis players, every three days i see a new face at the courts. usually three to four ppl are present, so we play doubles, which is a good way to practice for singles, since each player technically has only half the court for himself, and therefore if he perfects playing like that, his single's game improves.
