Title: Sagitarrious is Bleeding
Description: by Peter David

Has anybody read 'Sagitarrious is Bleeding'? It's one of the new BSG novels. I saw it in a Borders store today. I wasn't going to bother since I'd heard bad things about 'the Cylon Secret' and the mini series novelization read like it was slapped together over the weekend.

But Peter David's done good work in the past, so I flipped through it and it was actually surprisingly good.

Has anyone here read the whole thing? Is it worth picking up?

Same here. I am curious as well.

Is it set in the continuity of the current Galactica, or the classic one?

The current one. It takes place during season two some time between 'Black Market' and 'Captains Hand'.

I'll pass. I find Peter David to be a superficial writer. Especially when it comes to characters. They are all very extreme and without many nuances. His action scenes are very over the top as well.

IMHO his writing style isn't suitable for BSG.

I don't know about that. I thought the stuff I read rang pretty true for the most part. It's definitely a big improvement from Jeffery Carver's take on the mini series.

I read it for a while in the store and there were only two things I wasn't crazy about.

1) there's a scene with Sharon that goes a little too far. And if you read it I think you'll know which scene I'm talking about.

2) Boxey is in it. :stop: I mean... why? Did PD really need to remind people that this kid ever existed?

Anyway, asside from that I really liked what I read. I'll probably pick it up when I get some extra cash.

I had picked it up, but after flipping through it and seeing Boxey had been brought back, I honestly don't want to be disappointed what with season 3 just starting. I feel burned enough by all the craptacular Star Wars novels as it is.
