Description: half spoiler

I don't remember this from when the show was on TV, but the DVD intro (the first 5 minutes or so) generally shows about 30 seconds of the current show's plot. I thought when it was on TV, they would show what happened in the LAST episode in little 2 second shots, but on the DVD it is of the current episode, which isn't so great IMO for those that are watching for the first time and don't want the story spoiled.

For example, last night I watched "You Can't Go Home Again" (where Starbuck begins stranded on that planet), and the intro shots were things like Starbuck approaching the Raider (major spoiler as to how she was going to get out), Helo being shot at by Cylons (also a spoiler), and IIRR the face-to-face discussion of Adama & Roslyn.

Worse yet, the "segment" is 5-10 minutes into the show, so you can't even "skip" to the beginning of the show (you can easily fast-forward, but it's hard to figure out where the scenes start and where the show begins).

I remember in the 70s & 80s they used to do that all the time (e.g. the A-Team, Dukes of Hazard and Magnum PI would all give a long preview as to what would happen in the show) but that was stopped (fortunatley) probably in the late 80s... I don't remember BSG doing that in the new series... or did they?

Of course they had spoilers. I think that was true of every country, but I'm not sure. Then they got rid of them for the first few episodes of season two, then they brought them back. There was one episode that was spoiled for me this way in the first season, and I never really forgave RDM for that, but in season 2 I think the pace of the spoilers is faster and that helps to avoid your figuring anything out.

yay! another discussion on the merits of the "flash" intros. what dun!
(just kidding...)

RDM likes them and so do I.

I personally think (with only a few exceptions) the flashes ruin nothing compared to other suprises we see in the show.

But on the DVD... there is a chapter skip point at the start of the episode after the credits. Just hit next and you will never see it.

I agree that the flash intro is good, but I would have preferred if it was only on what had already happened, and not on what was going to happen. I especially liked the intro to KLG2 which covered the entire story (from mini-series to ep.11).

As for the chapter skip, it actually seems to skip too far - and misses about the first 5 mintues of story (which happens while the credits run over-top). Oh well... have to live with it.
