No luck. I'm getting my X-52 from Newegg.com and they don't have the 42.

I saw an X52 on eBay for $29 dollars once...the owner couldn't wait to get it off his hands.

DSD, now that you have High Speed Interweb (laugh.gif), are you going to host a server anytime soon?

I'm thinking about it. But it isn't the kind I was hoping for. It is just a little faster then DSL, so I think I'm sitting at 2MBS/SEC on my wireless card. But if I'm in the mood to do some flying and so on, of coarse I will. But I can't set up an old computer and run a 24 hour server.

Is anything going to get started anytime soon on the team? You (Talon) said earlier that nothing was getting started because of lack of active control flyers angry.gif - well maybe some of them can be 'sparked into action' by the temptation of a display team place if you were to start team selection......

Not only will we get more active pilots but those who really don't care if they are in the team or not (the worst sort of formation/display pilot) will be worked out of the system biggrin.gif tongue.gif.......

...Just a thought...

yes, lack of action from guys like you. If youre more interested in belonging to an aero squad, join that instead.

we need a good, stable, lag-less environment before i would think of starting a demo team. We need pilots who can handle it, and I have doubts about some of us being good aerobatic pilots. If we're going to do this, it needs to be good.

I doubt we'll really perform, because most of this squad's best control flyers are rarely active. But there is another idea i've been toying with for the YSVBA... and that is using replays. pilot #1 flies his flight alone and offline on his computer. he then saves the yfs file and sends it to #2 who flies his routine. on to #3. (i was thinking 3 would be a good number of pilots so that we could either be doing a small delta or echelon, and then use the odd number to stage fast paced solo/ opposition passes.)

the difficulty of this would be getting comms, since demo is nearly impossible without it. (esp. opposition work.) the best way to do this would be to have #1 record himself talking while he flies... then send that with the yfs file. the two would have to be synched by the next pilot to use the record, so I was thinking it could be set up to say something like "one... two... three... start flight." in this case, "start flight" meaning simulation->fly -> "press spacebar or trigger"

It is an interesting idea that you have there with passing round the yfs file, its quite a clever idea if it works.

However I take your point that we would want the best pilots and best stable environment and perhaps we should focus more on the Fighter Squad here and let the display team just sit on the backburner until the optimum time. The highest priority is really the tactical fighter squad as opposed to the display team.

don't let it sit on the back burner too long
it'll get burnt

Very True - we don't want to put it too far in the background but then again I don't think it should our first priority.

none of that is to say i'm not willing to do it. i've got a couple quick routines figured out... fast paced and exciting. in fact i'd love to try that yfs-airshow method sometime soon

uhh no. if you arent a good combat pilot, you wont be a good aero lead. and this isnt going to be just 'flying fast' and 'solo flights.' We're not interested in looking spastic.

please dont double post.
