Hi folks.

Pleased to announce that we are going to be trying PokeMod for a while.
Server is fully functional and stable, obviously now without RTD.

For info about the mod, say pokehelp in chat.

Comments Welcome.

FTW.

Also, Jean I need your SteamID again for admin on #2. Also, sorry for banning you ... my bad there, the HLTV thing on Sanctuary had taken on your name for days on end and we had been kicking and kicking it all day that day. Didn't realize that it was the real you that had come in! Sorry about that.

Also, I have upgraded Server #2 to the newest beta version of AMXX so if you notice anything out of the ordinary going on, please report it here.

At the moment, you can only have 6 pokemon in your party and 6 in storage. My apologies, this is a shortcoming of the newest version of PokeMod (which took me all day to figure out) and it would literally take me all day again to revert back to the older, more stable beta. Not going to happen. But hey, it's ok because PokeMod is fun anyway! 12 Pokes gives quite a bit of variety as I'm sure youll find...and you can always ditch them at any time for ones you might capture or find on the ground.

Here's a great link about how to play:
How To Play PokeMod

Can all PWN members please leave their steam ID here. Me and Jason (one of us) will then give you your admin.

The PoKéDex does really little in terms of helping newcomers to PoKéMoD. I for one am still completely confused on how everything works. It seems like an interesting mod nonetheless.

BTW, what exactly does a Mew do? It's obviously not listed in the PoKéDex because it only lists from 1-150. I don't know if I want to train it :P

Hey Happy,

Check out this link on how to play:

http://www.setbb.com/pcshopforums/viewtopi...um=pcshopforums

Unfortunately, PokeMod has no proper documentation for client-side or server-side. The mod has alot of features and is pretty advanced that way but the scripting leaves something to be desired, as any small change in settings requires a complete recompile of the script. It's not very user-friendly at all.

Hope this helps.

FTW.

Well, having read that, it seems I need to break this mod apart as I did with the WC3 mods. A tutorial on how to do everything might take a while with this but it's worth a shot. I might as well figure out how to work everything in the process.

There's no point in binding everything if I'm blind for the most part. It's somewhat fun though to walk around at random invisibility levels while blind  Some of the skills are ridiculously cheap on small maps although I can't really name them as I know barely anything about the mod.

There are two invisibility skills...the one you are talking about is for Gastly, Haunter and Gengar...the screen going darker indicates that you are more invisible...it's sort of a handicap as well...like the blindness from teleport in war3. If you don't want to be blind, say go in chat and change your pokemon. You must have started with another one because you have to capture the Ghost pokemon.

Also, there are only two binds: +pokeitem and +pokeskill

Some skills are automatic (like that invisibility) while others are thru the binded key. PokeMod will tell you this when you push the skill key on a poke that is auto. You can also say pokehelp in chat for the help menu, which gives you most of the information you need to play.

I dunno, so far, I don't think it's really any better or worse than war3 for "cheapness" of skills, it seems less abusive though.

I don't know what they were, but there were a few abilities that allowed you to KO your enemies in just one hit (just the ability and no shooting required) from quite some range. I'll look further into the matter though.

Yeah but the thing with most of those sorts of skills is that your pokemon has to be approaching level 99 to get a one hit KO, and that could take days/weeks to achieve similar to war3. Critical Strike and Grenade come to mind, even though critical strike is a % chance, spraying bullets increases that chance significantly. Blastoise's water gun or whatever could potentially do 70dmg from each side, but you have to hit dead center for it to register. So I guess there are ups and downs to all of the skills. There is Gyarados' surf ability which sends a blue thing across the screen....you have to get out of the way or it could kill you. There are some things like that, but IMO, nothing any more or less abusive than war3, you just really have to give it a chance. Same with starting any new mod.

Basically, skills become more powerful as your pokemon develops. At level one, a skill could be horrible, but at level 99, very useful. Also, alot of the crazy skills are reserved for the legendary pokemon, which you only have a 2% chance of finding in a pokeball and cannot capture from other players.

Also forgot to mention that you always get an HP bonus in PokeMod based on the average levels of the PokeMon in your party....if you have all 99's in your party your HP is 199....everyone gets this bonus. So in effect, a "one hit KO" is probably not a "one hit KO", it depends on your levels and the levels of your competition (not unlike war3). People who play consistently will always have the advantage in XP based mods.

Well now that Pokemod seem to be operational 100% and EchoZ and FTW will keep this mod, I'm asking one of you two to make similar threads here as in the war3 server forum describing rules (specific to pokemod) and how to play, etc. Take your time though, I just want a detailed list here.

should just delete this section of the forums and make a new section for the CSS server since the pokemod one is gone.
