A Living Shadow

[Valkyrion The Wolf]

After being hunted down for some time in the isle known as Mianyr; the young mexican grey wolf, Valkyrion, finally arrives, wounded, to Volkaria's Kingdom, with the hope of seeing a familiar face on his return to this land.

Instinctively, he runs toward the local den in the forest. As if excited to see somebody or check something, he rushes toward the den, then investigating no one's there. A little nervous after seeing the den empty, he runs toward the city streets, only to find a pair of civilians, and three of the city guards, but no one he has actually befriended with.

Wondering where everybody is, he decides to return to the den to check later, laying down and resting on his forepaws, waiting...

San steps in dragging a small animal of some sort. A large rodent pehaps. She holds up her right front paw not bearing any weight on it as she makes her way thru the maze of a den. Her entrance is soon made into the chamber she calls home backing into the small entry way with the food

Her ears curl back and her head lifts he bright blue eyes darting back to Valk. She drops the food and bounds to him wriggling her tail happily keeping her injured paw in the air

Valkyrion's face lights up with joy, seeing San was now on the den. Wagging his tail happily, walks over to her and licks her face multiple times, not hesitating a moment later to say:

"San... I probably don't look like it, but i'm so very happy to see you. So much time has passed... I really missed you. Say, though, what happened to your leg? It is rare when you get injured, for me, and i don't like it when you do"

She looks down to her paw the up to Valk "I just hurt it is all. Sprained it while out and about" She nuzzles into him affectionately nibbling and licking at his fur obviously missing her mate quite a bit her abdomen quite swollen as she slowly heads to the kll she had just brought in panting a bit. She drags it over and lays it in front of Valk "I know you wont take it...but at least help me eat it? YOu must be hungry"

"I see.. Be more careful next time, though." Says this while he licks her hurted paw a little, then raises up his gaze to meet with hers. "Yeah...I'm kind of hungry. You look like you are as well. Let's eat this one together..." he says while laying down and grabbing out a small piece out of the rodent. "So, it's probably not the right time to speak about this, as we just saw each other again for so long, but... i am curious as to know whatever happened around the surroundings while i was being hunted down." Tilts his head to the side, then asking: "Think you could speak to me about this subject while we eat, if it doesn't bother you?"

She slowly brings herself into a laying position with a huff. Her wide belly bulging even more at the sides. She paws at the food and takes a bit nodding "No I dont mind at all my mate" She chews the meat "Well I think there was a sickness..A lot of humans and animals didnt make it" She looks down sadly with a whine turning her head to give a light lick to er stomach.

He licks her face again affectinately, showing how much he has missed San during the passing time. "Good, you need to eat... So, a sickness, huh? That sounds bad. I'm sorry to hear a lot falled to it's cause. I hope it's over, though" Notices she seems sad as she looked down, then licking her stomach. "Hey, San... Are you ok?"

She looks to Valk with a murr tilting her head to the side curiously "Am I OK?" She looks around "Why wouldnt I be" She leans down and takes another bite of the meat laying it upon her forepaws before chewing at it

*pokes the food with his right paw, like if not hungry* "I don't know. I assume you SHOULD be fine. But when you said a lot of animals and humans have fallen to this sickness, you appeared to be sad, from what my eyes could caught, anyway.... So, i suppose that would be pretty much what happened while i was gone? I expected it to be more... *changes the subject* And well, about me. As you can possibly see, i couldn't exactly get along with hunters this season, either" Looks at his wound, licking it. "And i didn't have much success to gather potential members for the pack. I wanted the pack to grow, but, i think most of my efforts are in vain when it comes down to this specific subject...." Shakes his head "But whatever the case i don't mind... I'm here with you again. I could ask for nothing else"

She looks to Valk nosing up underneath his chin "Well...I think we lost the pack members we did have too it..I did get ill but managed to stay alive..." She looks to her belly and licks it "I just hope it didnt get to them" She noses the food towards him "Im just glad your home with your family...your wounds will heal and soon we will grow in numbers"

"Well, i'm very glad you managed to stay alive. I don't know what i could do without you, San. Besides, if something bad happened to you i would need to revive you again, but who knows if this time we won't be as lucky... But let¡s change the sub..." *gazes as she licks her belly" "Them...? ... Do you mean that, when we ... mated, you got pregnant? Ashammed and sad of not having noticed, he lowers his gaze to the ground, before looking back at her. "...That's wonderful, San. See? I told you you could have them. And yes. I'm home with you, with my family, and before i know it our pack shall increase. And all thanks to you". Smiles and licks her muzzle a couple of times, then licking slightly her stomach*

San grins proudly scooting along her belly to get closer to Valk. "I couldnt have done it with out you hon." She noses up under his chin and as he leans in to lick at her belly she lays her head over his neck licking the back of his ears "Hope you arent mad...I know....you werent exceptionlly keen on having a litter...but...maybe this is a new start for all of us."

Valkyrion smiles, and by seeing San so happy, so becomes he. "Well i did my part but you're doing all the hard job. I'm so proud of you..." Keeps on licking her stomach softly "I am kind of mad, as i told you i didn't wanted any pups because it's a big change. Something permanent, and the fact a wolf cub can randomly arrive and say "Hi dad" kind of freaks me out.... But it's not your fault. But it's also a warm feeling. It's exciting. It will be a new beginning."

San noses Valk so that he lifts his head to gaze into her piercing blue eyes. "Valk...My mate...I wont change my love for you it wont change your ability to roam...I will stay home with the pups while you go out...And just check in you know...let us know that your still going mmm?" She licks at his ear with a sigh. "They will live on after we return to the earth...carry on our spirits and beleifs with them and govern the pack as we do"

Succesfully, San makes Valkyrion to raise his red blood gaze and meet up with hers. "It won't change my love for you, either, San. I will always love you like i always had, if not more. But i cannot ask for you to do something like that, just staying home alone with the pups. Those pups are my responsability as well. You're not alone...* He nuzzles against San whimpering slightly, only enjoying his time with his mate. "We can't assure, however, they will live on just like that. It is our duty to protect them. We cannot assure either they will carry on our spirits and our legacy, after we depart from this world and spiritually return to nature's mother, Gaia. It is also our duty to teach them. As parents, now we'll have more responsabilities with our pups and the pack itself. But, i hope the pups have a good life while they're young. The one they deserve. The one i didn't had..." *shakes his head* "It will be a whole new world... San..."
