1.)
Staff member's word is final. Meaning no backchatting the staff members.
2.)
No God-Modding / power playing. This means:
No playing an invincible character. (One who either can't be hit, or is totally unphased by other characters hitting him/her.)
No playing of a character who is or seems to be 'all knowing' so would know things they should not know.
No playing anyone elses character, unless you have that person's express permission. (Minor things like stating you both got out of the car, etc for getting a thread moving is allowed, as long as its done in a way so that its not heavy handed and the other player can manouver as they wish in their post, as to what did and 'how' they did it.)
No playing so that you 'back another character into a corner', so that they are forced to reveal something, do something out of character, unless you have that person's express permission.
Note: If you are 'god modding' with the other person's permission, then the player needs to note in their post, before you do your post that will involve this, that they have given permission, i.e ((I've okayed John Doe knocking my character out.))
Failure to do so can lead to admins warning the member involved.
3.)
Plotline permissionIf your plotline requires characters that do not belong to you, check that it is okay with the person who owns them, before you even consider having your character 'think' about it in an RP thread.
I.E John Doe and Jane Doe are going to be throwing a surprise birthday party for Jack Doe. << Those playing John and Jane have to get an okay from Jack first, even if they only ever play the 'planning the party' thread.
Getting a 'throw away' plot idea, then opening a thread and asking someone who you think might like to join, to do so in the 'title description box' is fine.
I.E Jane Doe works in a bar, John Doe posts in there that he's waiting to be served by the brown haired waitress called Jane... she's pretty, but since John's gay, then he's only wanting a 'drink and barstaff' thread, not anything that could lead to more threads... meaning its a 'throwaway' plot.
4.)
Right of refusal All players have the right to decline to play in any thread, for whatever reason they like, they do
not need to explain why they are declining the offer to play.
Posting a name in a title description box, or sending a pm (etc) with a suggestion for a thread is
only an 'offer to play', the other person does
not have to take it up.
5.)
RatingOur rating is PG-13 for both the boards and the c-box.
Note: We have a URL linked section that is password protected for adult themed threads, please PM a member of staff for the URL / Password to start a thread in there, or if your thread needs to be moved to there.
6.)
No excessive swearingA little swearing never hurt, and can be pretty expressive, but too much is just pointless. So keep it to a minimum, even in the Rated area.
7.)
Character rules The rules noted at the bottom of the post re characters must be adhered to.
8.)
No obvious flaming. If you have a problem with another member, take it out with them using the PM system.
(If you feel it warrants it, please contact an admin to intercede.)
9.)
No prejudiceAt least, no out-of-character prejudice. In character, prejudice can be used as a basis for a thread. OOC it's just ignorance, be it agism, racism, sexism or whatever.
10.)
In character posts -- Guidelines While we do not have any rules on minimum post length, we do ask that you please follow the below list, since it helps make others want to post with you.
A.) Please do not use incredibly long paragraphs, these are not easy to digest, so can slow down or stop play.
We ask that you use no more than 14 lines per paragraph, to aid in this. We prefer easy to read posts, rather than 'perfect' composition, so break up very long paragraphs, please.
B.) No 'text' speak, unless that part of your post is a text.
These are the guidelines for the boards, not following them will result in warnings, be they 'verbal' and or added to a members warning count and, if need be, sanctions against a members account/s.
On very rare occasions a member may be banned from the board (and c-box).
FYI:
Those members with more than one account, we treat
all the accounts as one, so warnings on one will be noted should they gain warnings on others, sanctions cover
all accounts.
