This post is just to help with questions that have been asked on site / chatbox / pm that concern site policies, ect, so will be added to as needed.
Anything in white is a link to an area on the site.
What does this mean?
Avatar = The celebrity, model, whoever, you use to be the face / body of your character.
~~
Barcodes = The numbers (and lines) on a Transgenics neck, the numbers being their designation.
~~
Canon = A character that was shown / mentioned on the show.
Character = Please look at
rules for a list of the 5 'ranks' of character on site and what each can do, who needs a bio... Character 'rankings' in order = Main character (MC), Non playable character (NPC), Owned extra (OE); Extra and Throwaway.
Cocktail = What DNA does your character have, Human, Familiar, or list the species for Transgenics.
~~
Designation = The numbers that are the Transgenics identifiers, in place of names. + Law enforcement / military, etc titles.
~~
NRN (No reply needed) = A thread that needs no reply, but the poster wants to post for reasons of game play... eg sitting and musing on things.
Number = Another name for designation.
~~
OC / original character = Anyone made up by a member who is bio-d
~~
Old Hand = A member who has been on site for more than 1 year, who is currently active and has more than 500 posts (all accounts owned are counted) -- Old hands have the ability to: Close threads / Bump threads -- in the In Character role play areas.
~~
One off = A Transgenic that does not have clones of any other series, there is only
one with their face / DNA signature.
~~
Open thread = Threads that anyone can reply to. If a thread has a name mentioned, then its reserved for that character / member.
~~
Original = A Transgenic that does have clones. -- The first made in each series is noted as the 'original' just for ease of cataloguing.
Note: Feel free to make older versions of those listed as 'original' on site,
unless the in play character states in their profile that theirs was the first of their designation.
~~
TAC = Teacher / advisor -- US military school term employed by Manticore for those that train their creations.
Transgenic = The word is derived from 'Transfer of genetic material'... so anything with DNA from another species is Transgenic.
(Note = Transhuman refers to an evolutionary process, and is therefore incorrectly used if done so to describe a transgenic. A Familiar may be transhuman, a transgenic most definitely is not.)
Types = Refers to types of Transgenic, Familiar, and other acceptable 'super humans'.
Getting started
Click on
Character Applications, to find the bio template.
Its useful to copy it onto word or such.
Then fill it in, using the information contained in:
Character Information (this forum shows age ranges of each transgenic series, types allowed, taken designations... etc)
Units on site etc (Shows the 'canon' units on site, and if they have need of members, including 'Max' and 'Alec's units. Members have created their own units to.)
And also here:
Avatar claims so you may see if the person you wish to use as the 'face' of your character is still free, and to claim them if they are.
This thread is also an important read for face claims.]
Canons (Taken / available list)It can be helpful to look at other players bios.
If any extra help is needed please contact Blake, Reaper or Jondy

.
After you feel happy with the bio, post it in Character applications.
When it is approved you can play in as many areas as you like, as long as a character is not in two places at the same time! (see question below.)
Please read the rest of the FAQ for other useful information, posted after questions from members.
If you need more help, Reaper and Veritas are always willing to aid, or if neither of us are on, and you wish a fast answer and other members are present, please post in the chatbox, our members are a helpful and friendly bunch, so will be happy to offer aid.
We look forward to playing with you.

What is the rating of the site?
This site is rated PG-13.
For anything that is of a more adult nature, please use the rated area, just pm an admin for the password and URL of that area, or if you already have such, inform them or a Mod if a thread becomes X-rated, so needs moving to that area.

Swear words?
This site is PG-13.
Occassional swearing is allowed in a thread, try keep the F etc words to a minimum though.

Want to be more explicit, post in the rated area, but even then keep it to being realistic for the charrie, swearing every other word or such, is going overboard, a string of swearing if badly hurt is ok in that one post, keeping it up afterwards is overkill, and looses its effectiveness.
Are multiple accounts allowed?
Yes.
Just let an admin know, so if changing to a solo account for an already bio-d charrie you can add a note in a new post under the new account name to the bio, stating same person. This lets everyone know its not been hijacked.
Also please add a note in the 'Players' thread in this area, to let people know your new alias, so it can be added to the list, and we all know then, so no ones confused.

Are characters allowed to be in many threads at one time?
Yes, with one obvious exception, please read below.
You can play in as many threads as you wish with one charrie, on here its personal preference, long as you know where that thread comes in ya charrie's timeline, (in case need to let another player know for plot), its all good.
Only thing that would get an admin cranky *picture me with a mallet

* is being in two places at the same time, play wise.
I.e 11:59 New Years Eve, in Crash, and in TC = a no no, since no charrie on a DA site can do a split, a la Multiple man.
Otherwise not an issue, so your character can be in as many places as you wish.

How do I get a sub forum/s for my character/s home?
Simply post in this thread
Home requests, with the required information stated on the 'housing template', and an admin will add a sub forum for you, and give you mod powers for it.
NOTE:
As of Jan 2011, we are limiting the number of 'home' forums, instead we have pinned information threads to post your homes info to.
Limit to number of characters?
The only limit is the number you decide upon. We prefer to leave this to personal preference, so if you like to only have one, or like to have 20, then that is your choice.
What types can I play?
Short answer = Transgenics, Humans, Familiars, Red series, and mixes, and various 'types' within those types.
See this thread for much more detailed information. >>>>
Dates, series and other info
Can I have a clone of one of Max's unit
We have other 'second' X5 clones of the 09-ers on site, so the answer is probably, if they are not listed
here, and subject to bio approval, if the bio makes 'sense' to the admins, then you may have that charrie.
We are limiting clones because Manticore do have casualties, be it miscarried, born dead, killed by the progeria like illness, killed in training, killed on a mission, killed in the cauterization of Washington, killed by Ames & co, killed by other means....
It does not make sense for all series clones to be running around, so we are limiting to certain ones.
Dead threads
'In character' threads are considered 'dead' after 1 month of not being replied to. Unless an 'absent' notice is posted (or an admin informed of being absent), or admins know that certain characters are not 'playing' for people, then they'll be left for 2 months.
After 2 months, dependent on the reason for not being on in the absent note, then a thread will either be:
a.) Archived.
b.) Or in event of only computer busted, or such, it will be pinned, a 'warning' smilie will be added to the first post, and a note added in 'topic description' stating its ' {name of RP-er} thread, don't archive'. And given 6 months grace, then they will be archieved.
Dead threads are then archived. If wanted for play again, they can be retrived from archives by an admin.
I joined the site, why have I been deleted?
There are a few answers, dependent on circumstances.
1.) If you have joined as an already taken canon, then your account will be deleted, please check the taken canons list before setting up an account.
2.) After a few weeks we will delete any member who has joined but has never posted a bio.
3.) Members who suddenly stop playing, with no absent note, are given a couple of weeks, if they've not been on in that time a member of staff will try contacting them. If they have still not been on within 2 months of last being on, then their bios etc will be archived and they loose all face etc claims. If after 6 months the person is still a no show then their account will be deleted (if they have less than 60 posts, if more then they will be moved to the 'retired' group.). This will only NOT happen if they are on an admin agreed sabbatical.
4.) A member states they are leaving, this will result in their account being deleted or retired (depended on members wishes).
5.) And of course on the very rare occasion that a member is permanently banned, then their account will be deleted.
How do I get my own sub forum in 'Character pictures' / 'Bio lists, realtionship status etc' / 'Creativity corner?'
Simply post a thread/s of pictures of your character/s, extra charrie info or artwork etc, in the applicable forum and an admin will add a sub for you, giving you mod powers for it, and move the thread/s into it.
Why are some bios pinned in the bio forums?
It was decided to pin bios for all the
TV canon characters, to make it easier for people to quickly locate canon bios.
Is this site a continuation of ________, a Dark Angel role playing site
This site is
not a continuation of anything more than the series.
When we say its set a year after Freak Nation, we mean the last ever episode, not any of the sites that have used that as their site name, or part of it.
