Physical description: Maya is tall but really skinny. Her hair is naturally a mix of mousey brown and blonde but she has a tendency to dye it dark so that she is harder to recognise. She stands in at about 5’4” and weighs approximately 115lbs but a lot of her mass is muscle.

History: Manticore has always had a thing about experimenting with lupine Dna the fact that wolves hunt together as a pack, a complete unit, without the pack they are nothing. They tried to incorporate the feline DNA into the transgenics to have both sides, a pack and solitary hunter. But after the success of the X5’s the scientists begin to experiment, and gained permission to start a new project branching off of the new and improved X6’s that were in development.
This group would be used solely for paired or group missions where they would have to work as a unit, they would read each others body language, seem to know each others thoughts as soon as they popped into their head. They moved as one.
These one offs had only two species in their cocktail, Lupine and Human. When the test subjects where born a few were not human in looks, half ere disposed of and the others were used as test subjects, there were a few who looked completely human but from an early age showed wolf like behaviour. This was what Manticore wanted.
They were kept away from the other X6’s, they never trained with them only with their group their pack. They spoke human and where also able to communicate with other canine species, strangely enough the guards did not notice this and they did not tell them.
They trained exactly how their fellow X6’s did although they had no solo training, the Co was not picked they were encouraged to fight for their rank from an early age, but once that was all sorted from a young age the group was pretty harmonious. On training sessions they were encouraged sometimes even beaten to ‘unleash’ their animal side. They would yelp, growl, howl as wolves did when their mood suited, they learnt to control this as they got older.
The X5’s were given a con to chase and capture, subdue and then bring back to base, this was tried on them. They were given the same orders but after the con tripped and cut his arm leaving a blood trail, they went into a frenzy, something just took over them, they brought the con down and literally ripped him to pieces. The tacs found them at it and they were all tranqed and placed in single celled barracks for months. On realising what they did, how they let it take over them what they had done they didn’t know why they had done it, it just seemed natural. Needless to say they all cried, howled and whined for their unit.
The officials where deciding what to do with them, they decided they had been encouraged to be to wolf like and were immediately put through psy-ops and slowly allowed to become a nit under close supervision this time. Tentatively the exercise was tried again and they did as ordered, captured and restrained they didn’t kill him. Manticore believed the psy-ops had worked and they resumed normal training, the blood aspect did not come into the equation as they had no idea about it.
They were based in the Arizona base and moved as the bases where shutdown, due the mishap and the uncertainty of how they would react when placed in a situation which wasn’t monitored their mission status was withdrawn until officials where assured they could be trusted. After being transferred to the Wyoming base they where scheduled for their first group mission. Rogue transgenic had gone AWOL on a mission and had disappeared into the Amazon jungle, why he had ended up there Manticore didn’t know but it would be their jobs to hunt him down and bring him back to Manticore.
However, their mission was unsuccessful and they returned to Manticore a few days before it was burned to the ground. During the escape, the were separated, Milo and Maya ran together to try and stay safe. All bar one of the rest of the unit were slaughtered or recaptured. Maya and Milo have stuck together but they have a complicated ‘can’t live with you, can’t live without you’ relationship and Maya secretly wants Milo to take her as his mate. So, being young, she reacts to him the way most teens would, forcing him to take notice of her, be it fighting or disappearing for a few days and returning home stinking of alcohol and, more often than not, other men.
Other: Their eyes seem to change from their human normal colour to a yellowy shade when exited, smell blood etc, anything triggering wolf like behaviour.
Wolf data:
Jaw strength: A crushing pressure of 1,500 lbs per inch. Dogs of similar size & structure only have 750 pounds per inch of pressure.
Max speed: 35 miles per hour (for short distances.) Fast & efficient runners they're made for running. They have long legs, a narrow chest & large paws to help them barrel through the snow.
Highest sound: Max frequency detected by a wolf can be up to 80kHz. The limit for a human is 20kHz.
Smell: A Wolf's sense of smell is 100 greater than that of a humans.
Cold weather: A Wolf’s dense fur keeps them warm. The Wolves coat is made up of two parts, an under layer of thick down & an outer layer of guard hairs that keep them dry.
Sleep: Wolves tend to (excuse the expression) cat nap. They appear to sleep heavily for approximately 15 minutes at a time. This is due in part to their vigilant nature. They will eat, sleep & play at anytime of the day or night.
Personality: Maya is harsh and cruel if she doesn’t like someone. She finds it hard to trust people, apart from her unit because of the way they were trained, being in solitary. However, when she is settled, she is a good pup, behaving and everything that is expected of her. However, on the move she is scared and acting out so that she can be cared for.

Clothes preferred: Tank tops and baggy cargo pants are her favourites but she has been known to wear more dressy clothing when she disappears off. However, she is usually a comfort over style girl and can usually be found lounging around in a oversized jumper when settled.
