Governor-General

Mr Speaker,

Honourable Members of the House, today I have had a meeting with the current Governor-General of New Acadia, His Excellency, Robert Stanfield on the matter relating to the office of the Governor General. As has been made aware, His Excellency's term is almost up as the Interim Governor-General, and as such, a new one must be selected.

However, for reasons relating to continuity and stability, I have personally asked that His Excellency, the Governor General, Rober Stanfield remain as Governor-General and become the first official Governor General of New Acadia. He did graciously accept the invitation and it is now my proud and happy duty to inform the House that His Excellency, Robert Stanfield will be and shall be the first Governor-General of New Acadia.

The Government extend's it's congratulations and it's prayers in that he may provide the country with a sense of heritage and provide us with his wisdom and guidance.

Opposition official statement

His excellency Mr. Stanfield was clearly the right choice for this Mr. Speaker. I am glad that the government picked a Progressive Conservative man to stand in the lead of our nation as the representative for the Her Majesty the Queen.

I appluad the government on this selection.

Mr Speaker,

The Government selected His Excellency, the Right Honourable Robert Stanfield to remain as the Governor General because the Liberal party is not so dictatorial so as to install a Liberal Governor General. We selected His Excellency the Right Honourable Robert Stanfield to remain because we need a measure of continuity. His Excellency is very much more experienced and experience is what this new nation needs.

I will be looking to his wisdom and guidance over the next few weeks.
