Cost: $300.00 per plate
Invited members: Open to public Event: Dinner, and speech Fundraising Points: 125 Location: Prince Edward Island The Dinner held at a large local restaurant in Charlottetown, outside with many Liberal supporters in attendence. There was a jubilant mood in the air after the election victory of the party. Planned Parenthood were in attendance. The speech after the meal was eaten was relatively short, but the Prime Minister felt it was a best for a shor tspeech so that the message sunk through. [Quote]The Liberal party, the Government has always maintained it's name sake. We are the Liberal party. We are a liberal party a liberal party for a liberal democracy. And in liberal democracies, every person is entitled to their rights. One of those rights, that apply to women only, is the right to have access to abortions as and when they so choose. The choice to have an abortion in New Acadia is a fundamental right that cannot be taken away. Who knows best whether or not a mother should get an abortion? The mother herself or the Government? When did mothers suddenly become incapable of making reasonable and balanced judgements on what is in the best interests of themselves and their baby? When was it the place of government to dicatate how women live? Not under a Liberal Government. We will seek to maintain a parents right to choose to abort their pregnancy if they feel that they are unable to care for a child as any blood mother should be able to or if they are unable to afford a baby or if they feel they would be unsuitable parents. We are a nation where the foundations are based around free choice, based around the freedom of the person. What can be more fundamental to that than a woman choosing whether or not to abort their pregnancy? If we rid ourselves of this right, what right will be the next target? The right to fair trial, the right to freedom of assembly and association? I say No now and I will say No, to every attempt to curtail the rights of the mothers of New Acadia, with every breath and strength in my body and that I will fight for the rights of women and mothers everywhere from the tyranny and oppression of their freedom of choice![quote] |

Speech, while detailed, could've been longer. Planned Parenthood was pleased to hear from the Prime Minister & is appreciative of his commitment to reproductive rights
Liberals: +5 Planned Parenthood $56,000 raised 75 time points used OOC: When doing an admin-approved speech to a special interest group. They only take 75 time points, not 125 |
