After what seems like a long wait the summer arrived as the league season finally reached its climax in a sunny and hot Matlock yesterday. Our opponents for the last league game, and for the second of three fixtures against the same opponents in a week, were league champions Buxton.
In Vicky’s absence, goalkeeping duties were rotated between Carly, Chelsie and BethJ. Playing down the slope in the first half the girls stormed into a first half lead as a Chelsie hat-trick and a header from Hannah put us 4-0 up at half time. Playing up the slope in the second half would, we knew, be difficult and we came under sustained pressure but we kept our cool and our concentration and held firm to keep a clean sheet and finish the league campaign on a winning note, and confirm our third place. I’m only sorry I wasn’t there to see it – perhaps I should stay away more often; well done girls! We have just one fixture left, Wednesday’s League Cup Final against Buxton. Attached Image ![]() |
