Pride Park Juniors v Chesapeake

Myself and Tony had talked about giving our opponents the 3 points and not turning up for today's game, but we realised that wouldn't be fair on the teams fighting for the league title, our fantastic parents who come down and give the boys great support every game and especially the boys themselves.
After all the fallout from the last game,a top ref and two independent linesman were assigned to officiate the game, the Derbyshire F.A sent their child welfare officer down and even put a respect banner up,they even got the lads to shake hands before the match, which was a great effort, especially as Chesapeake had trouble doing this after games.
The atmosphere,as you can imagine was tense and I was a little worried how the lads would approach the game,my pre-match team talk was simple, don't let any of the drama surrounding the game affect the way you play, play as you always do,give 100% and if you think there's a challenge to be made, make it,forget about the cup defeat and remember,I wouldn't swap any of their players for you,go and enjoy yourselves.
Our back three of Josh Hill,Carlo and Jamie were fantastic, dealing with everything Chesapeake threw at us,Kieran and Joseph were pulling the strings in centre midfield, pushing forward and tracking back and Kyle and Josh working up and down the wings and Brandon as always running his legs off up front.
As far as chances went there was only one team in it,it was great to watch and I think Chesapeake were glad to go in at half time 0-0.

Half time
0-0
The boys seemed relaxed at half time and they were encouraging each other, which is fantastic,I just left them too it and asked for more of the same, which they did,the closest Chesapeake came to scoring was when the ball slipped under Reece's foot and went out for a goal kick.Josh Midgely had a great first half, one of his best of the season so far,we were getting a lot of corners because of Josh's runs down the wing, but for whatever reason we couldn't get the delivery right from our set pieces,so we put Dele on to take our set pieces and from his very first touch, floated a corner over to the far post and Brandon finished well, for what we thought was a goal,we celebrated wildly, only to see the flag up for offside.
After we calm down to the boys credit, they didn't let it put them off and the ball was soon the back of the net, another brilliant cross from Dele, was converted again by Brandon, who was havin a storming' game up front and this time it counted.a great finish Brandon

There were only six minutes left and we expected our opponents to throw everything at us,but,to be fair,if their was going to be another goal we were looking the more likely scorers,a ball over from the left, fell to Dele who smashed a volley from just outside the box into the bottom corner of the net,but was dubiously given offside, which was a shame, because it was a cracking shot.
As Mickleover95 gathered by the corner flag to watch the last few minutes unfold,I counted at least three other league mangers who'd come down to watch the game,I said to Tony,we should of charged people to watch,we'd of made a fortune.
The referee blew for full time and a loud deafening cheer went up,especially from Mickleover95,who ran onto the pitch to congratulate our lads,as it meant they'd more or less won the league,a great end, to a fantastic performance from the boys,as we walked over to our opponents,to shake hands, some sadly refused, but at the end of the season the league table showed,we played each other three times,we won 2 and they won 1,Game,Set and Match PPJ.

Final Score
Pride Park Juniors 1-0 Chesapeake
An absolutely brilliant performance, one of my favourites of the season, fantastic.
