I love Otherworld's spiders. In particular, I love large spiders, though the huge and giant spiders are deliciously nightmarish. Nevertheless, I think there's room in the scale for something in between scarily large and hideously gigantic.

Maybe it's because I've just been reading Swords Against Death, or perusing my old copy of the Isle of Dread, but a middle-of-the-road spider would be something I'd definitely find a use for.

I could imagine, say, a pony-sized spiddie, perhaps in a pack of two. I could also imagine stirge-sized spiders, too, or even a swarm base right out of Arachnophobia. Yo could have spiders that are like orb-spinners or widows, all abdomen, or rangy wolf or house-spider types, maybe even long, rangy things like the banana-shaped fellow who tried to take up residence in my bathroom.

I know that there are other manufacturers out there, but you know what? Some of them don't know their spider anatomy worth a damn. Some look more like Sleipnir than a spider, and others have the faces of insects, complete with beetle's mandibles!

Is it so hard to pick up a book or even google "spider anatomy" for ten minutes?

Something with Otherworld's eye for detail and in the right size range would make me a very happy person.

Richard does a range of "huge" (pony sized) spiders, along with his gigantic one?
I do think the idea of doing a swarm base of dozens of smaller sized spiders is cool though! Or a drow "pet spider" pack which might consist of dog sized spiders?
They would accompany an increasing drow range perfectly, particularly with a drow priestess and/or a spider handler.

What about those little goblin sized speider men "chitines"?

The huge ones are great, and I certainly intend getting one, but 70-75mm diameter is a bit bigger than I had in mind. I'm thinking something just a little larger than the current Large ones, but not so huge as the Huge ones, if anyone can bear reading the repetitions in that last sentence.

I think I might be starting to babble.

As for your idea of spider "pets", I salute you!

Great ideas, guys. A spider swarm would be a wonderful addition to the traditional dungeon vermin, especially if there were 3-4 spiders per mini, with 3-4 minis in the pack: you could then position them however you wanted to shape your swarm according to each encounter's needs. I think an option like that would be much better than the giant rat swarm produced by RP bitd, for example.

And giant ants (old-school style, only 2 feet long).

I could definitely have used some giant ants like that the past two months. I've been using dimes to represent them.
