Hi all,

Note: I received permission from Richard to post this announcement in his forum.

I'd like to announce BARROWMAZE a new classic fantasy megadungeon setting for Labyrinth Lord and and early versions of the original fantasy role-playing game.

I've included illustrations from a bunch of great artists including Zhu Bajie, who posts here and has done work for Otherworld. Zhu and I pulled Trevor Hammond out of retirement from the 80s British fantasy scene to illustrate all the macabre undead. They are both awesome! They joined cover artist Stefan Poag, Jason Sholtis, and others.

As you know from our session reports, we use Otherworld Miniatures whenever possible, as well as old Citadels, and a Hirst Arts dungeon. In order to help the cause of our favorite company, I also included an advertisement for Otherworld (the only one in the book).

Barrowmaze is currently ranked 7th on rpgnow! You can find it here:

http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?pro...cturers_id=4249

I'm supporting it through http://www.barrowmaze.com with extras and freebies.

Please pass on the information to friends and fellow gamers across your blogs and networks. I'd really appreciate it.

Here's the info:

Local villagers whisper of a mysterious place deep in the marsh - a place shrouded in mist and dotted with barrow mounds, ruined columns, and standing stones. The tomb-robbers who explore beneath the mounds - or rather the few who return - tell tales of labyrinthine passages, magnificent grave goods, and terrifying creatures waiting in the dark. Are you brave (or foolish) enough to enter the Barrowmaze?

Barrowmaze is a classic old school megadungeon for use with Labyrinth LordTM and other fantasy role-playing games.

The Barrowmaze megadungeon setting includes:

1. An 84 page book describing Barrowmaze and The Barrow Mounds.

2. 300 encounter areas, traps, and puzzles to test the mettle of your players.

3. New magic items, spells, monsters, and classic maps.

4. Pregenerated characters.

5. Over 30 new classic-style illustrations featuring artist Stefan Poag, as well as Toren Atkinson, Zhu Bajie, Trevor Hammond, John Larrey, and Jason Sholtis.

Barrowmaze will keep your players on their toes and your campaign going strong.

The .PDF can be yours for just $6.66 - that's right THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST!

Buy the print copy and the .PDF is just $2.00!

Barrowmaze is brought to you by the Old School Renaissance (so don’t forget your 10’ pole).

Cool, was just looking at this on RPGNOW the other day (or was it earlier today, who can remember.) and was thinking of picking it up.

- How is it for low level characgters just starting a campaign, besides deadly?

- We are using AD&D 2nd Ed, will it take much modification to use?

Thanks

It is old school, so lethal is the operative word. You need to be ok with PC death. There will be many of those lol

You might have to buff "select" monsters for 2E.

My recollection of 2E isn't that great, but that would be my initial thought.

Wow, such a cool Adventure!
Im watching this since the first Sessionreports from your redbox-site.
Your NR-Sessions are wery inspiring for me and my group. At least i really enjoy the coll pic with the OW-minis!...hope to see some more of them in the future.

Some weeks ago i started to build a HA-Dungeon like yours, cause i want to play Barrowmaze like the original.

Is there more stuff on the way, or is this just one-shot?
I would love to see some aditionel stuff from your side, at lest the northern reaches, love that stuff, really!!

Greatings from Germany!

Hi Siegfried!

The NR is the name of the setting. I gave it a brief outline but the intent was to detail the setting through play. Our map started with only a couple hexes and some rumours. The choices of the PCs has determined how the game has developed.

I am writing Barrowmaze II at the moment. Artists are already at work. I will post more information about it on my blog (Discourse and Dragons) in the next month.

We all adore Otherworld minis and use them often in our games. With my focus on adventure writing I haven't been painting as much, but once I get BMII out I envision gettting back to the paintbrush. I'm feeling the itch already smile.gif

I posted the hyperlink above.

You have to buy it from www.rpgnow.com.

They have a print-on-demand service (called Lightning Source UK).

All you do is order it online and it will be mailed to you smile.gif

@phoenix: Thank you. I appreciate it. It was a big learning experience. I'm not done though. I'm writing BMII right now. Art is already underway. Also I have an artist revising the map. I'll have more to say on that shortly.
