Starting a "here are my painted Otherworld figures" thread to hopefully help keep me focused on painting for the Painting Pledge, Painting Challenge and generally getting my Otherworkd miniatures painted. Always seems to be hard to stay focused on one painting project when playing dozens of game systems involving many different genres.

The first Otherworld figs I painted a while back were the trolls. From the first time I saw them I had to have these classic AD&D style figs.

A pair of ropers painted for a convention dungeon crawl and the Painting Pledge.

I painted the bases to match up with Dwarven Forge terrain as this is where they will see the most action.

I also repainted my Grenadier roper to match. Not quite the same level of detail..... but it will work as a smaller hit die roper to lure the adventurers into a false sense of security until the grown up ropers attack.

Otyugh finished for the same dungeon crawl game and the February Painting Challenge.

Once again, repainted a Grenadier version at the same time. My wife thinks the Grenadier version is "cute", and the Otherworld version is gross. I think that sums things up well.

Great work. I loved seeing all the different trolls and then some of the older minis vs the new OM minis. You've done a great job on all these though. Pleaae show us some more when you are able wink.gif

Wow, that is a sweet set of trolls! All the way back to the old Grenadier Box 2010 -- Denizens of the Swamp! And all painted to match, too.

Amazing work! Those Trolls are flippin Ace! They look so unified painted up together
like that. Great work on the Otyugh and Ropers too. It was well worth the effort painting up your older mini's to match the Otherworld stuff. The results speak volumes! wink.gif

Some pics from different angles of the goblins from this month's challenge.

These were a lot of fun to paint, the first one I had to paint was the goblin modeled straight out of the MM1. I am looking forward to getting the rest of the GB1 & GB2 figs finished for April's challenge.

I based these on washers rather than slotta bases so they match up better in height with the many older Ral Partha, Grenadier and other figures I use for fantasy gaming.

I wanted some goblins with missile weapons, specifically a short bow, so I converted one of the GB1 goblins. It was a straight forward conversion, just snip the the hand weapon, reposition the arm a bit and pin the bow in place. I've had the bow bits for a long time, I think they are clipped from a Grenadier dwarf. The quiver and dagger are from the Mordheim weapon sprue.

Fantastic job M4jumbo! The ropers look great a similar paint scheme to my own. I hadn't thought about getting any trolls (hardly ever use them) but your little clan looks like quite the 'situation' waiting to happen! biggrin.gif

I love your goblin conversion. I love making "unique" miniatures like this myself. The bits reminded me of a heresy goblin scout bow and quiver?

Of course it would be great if Richard could get a pack or two of foot missile troops commissioned!

Great painting - this thread is of a very high standard.

Additional pictures of the goblins from April's challenge and pledge, a mix of the remainder of figs from GB1 & GB2.

Also included with the Otherworld goblins are a pair of old Grenadier goblins. I repainted the Grenadier figs to match their Otherworld counterparts. The Grenadier models are chunkier but with the heavier armor I don't think they are out of place. I think they go very well together, blending old and new with an "old school" feel. For me this is one of the huge appeals of Otherworld figs, they fit in so well stylewise with my existing older figures.

Part of the decision to base the Otherworld models on washers rather than slotta bases was to allow them to match with the many older figs I have that scale more towards 25mm. But overall I think I prefer the more intregal look of the washer bases over the more intrusive raised slotta bases.

And the entire group, seen here celebrating their successful attack on the wagon caravan.

Nice work on the goblins. The greandier ones look great with the OM ones. And a wrecked wagon train! You are spoiling us biggrin.gif

BTW (and this is totally down to personal preferences) a coat of Testors Dull Coat would give these guys a great finish. Just take off the sheen. Of course you may like then with a satin finish. In which case totally ignore me. The paint work is excellent of course.
