| QUOTE (AndyM @ Sep 27 2011, 11:11 AM) | | Great work John. I was not expecting one piece castings, but that works well. The axe wielders and the leaders are simply superb. Why no armour though, surely even goblins wear some armour when they go to war. Maybe it slows the wolves down to much though. |
Well, I was not asked to do armour - and the goblins are measured to be the same proportions (slightly smaller in a couple of cases ) as the warriors. My brief was to make them similar to the cloaked ones, so that's what I did.
There have been comments on Frothers that they look a little big for the wolves, and while I can see that, hopefully that has been captured in the posing somewhat. I think it would have been a cheat to make smaller goblins or larger wolves, and Richard was aware of this when we initially discussed the figures:
"The wolves barely tolerate the goblins, and are not concerned that they have a comfortable ride! "
There is an assymetry to the goblin posing that reflects this, as well as the fact that most of them have to grasp on perhaps a little too tightly! Any armour might have pushed this relationship over the edge!
You may have noticed that one of them is a "wolf whisperer" - although the whispering might just be along the lines of "Give over, or this axe will find a new home"

| QUOTE (clam @ Sep 27 2011, 02:10 PM) | lol - yes Richard, lets have some of them in October, so we can paint them for OWC, please. Perhaps there will be a few masters available? Maybe we could have buy a sample, please ... did I say please
| QUOTE (John) | | I'm not sure what is up next - it might be a surprise... or more goblins... or a surprise... Richard has mentioned three or four different things. It's very exciting. |
Come on, you can tell us. Wont tell Richard that you did But no harms done making a few missile Goblin troopers. We all want those. After that Aspis, Cave Fisher and Xorn should be popular |
Well, that would spoil the fun of endless pointless speculation, and who am I to do that? I think Richard has to balance getting the ranges complete, getting the models that would generate a good return in this rather opressive financial climate, and producing the stuff he knows he knows you want to see. Oh, and paying me. And Helping launch DF Europe.
There is no OW stuff on my bench at the moment, except for that most sensitive of subjects, but personally I am hoping he will ask me to do the last thing he suggested first, which is not the thing that has been discussed on the forum most recently, but one that has been discuseed, and would probably end up potentially being reasonably expensive to produce, dependant on size.
I've said too much. I'll get my coat.

I'd vote for the cave fisher Perhaps that could be one of the options for the special miniature via the voucher.

Thank you for all your kind comments - I hope you will all enjoy the models when they appear (quite soon if I understand Richard properly!)

These are really nice. They don't look "too big" at all - they look exactly like goblins riding wolves. The faces are really characterful, and the poses match up very nicely. Hmm something quite Kaleb Daark about this guy!

Really unsure about these, unsure in a good way though. I'd promised not to get any OW goblins with a vast number of citadel, citadel AD&D, marauder and Ral Patha Bob Olley goblins. After having seen the OW goblins I really wanted them but stuck to my guns, except there are some good deals ion the sale ending tomorrow. And now these, I'm holding on, just but I think I may crack if I see these painted. And then I'd have to get the rider-less wolves too, curse you...
One minor quibble easily sorted but with possible future problems, I hate the stylised short bows, a regular self bow would have been so much more awesome. Picky, I know.
