Title: Can you tell what it is yet?
Otherworld - February 23, 2011 08:46 PM (GMT)
OK, a quick fun competition for you all. No prizes, but a chance to take a guess at what's coming in March.
Over the next few days, I'll post some pics of greens which Kev is working on. You have to tell me what monster they represent. I'll only allow 2 guesses per person, but the first to get it right will earn the undying respect of his peers!
Here it is:

The next pic will be posted in around 24 hours.

Conan type, barbarian leader?
Olias_Oractanium - February 23, 2011 11:52 PM (GMT)
Could it be an NPC ... a baggage carrier type fellow... weighed down by huge packs on his back??? A squire... a retainer... etc, etc.
Olias_Oractanium - February 23, 2011 11:57 PM (GMT)
My other guess is completely left field... a part of me wants to say Githyanki for some unknown reason... perhaps wishful thinking.
Too late to turn it into a Giant Ant ! one day... one day... someone will do some decent ants.
DukeoftheBloodKeep - February 24, 2011 12:27 AM (GMT)
Ants are on the to do list for this year!
I'm going to be wise and save my two guesses until I see the next pic...

ME1b - naked/un-armoured berserker with loincloth, fur cloak and two hand weapons - sword and an axe maybe, but a bit hard to see from this angle :D

OK, I can see you're all struggling with this, and it was a tough ask to ID a dolly, so here's the next one.
AndyM - February 24, 2011 10:05 AM (GMT)
It's the loin cloth - it's totally thrown me off!
Is it a type of demon or devil?
anakeron - February 24, 2011 10:20 AM (GMT)
size m,humanoid,3 toed ,horn or similar head configuration, kind of scaly skin...
judging by the general look , i say meazel
Brage97 - February 24, 2011 10:42 AM (GMT)
Bogling shaman?
(If it isn't you should make one)

We have a winner! Congratulations!

This is one of a set of 3 which should be finished by early next week.

Ohh! that is sweet. Definitely going on the 'to buy' list. Awesome job by Mr. Adams.

Good going Anakeron.
Meazels are great fun.
Thanks Richard and Kevin for bringing back this old school baddy.
AndyM - February 24, 2011 02:34 PM (GMT)
HaHa! Nice one and well guessed Anakeron. Lovely sculpt. I'm looking forward to seeing the other 2.

Sorry I missed the fun competition, was off with the kids at an indoor waterpark.
A meazel. I've always been aware of meazels (MMII or Fiend Folio? I like the citadel ones), but never met one as a player nor used one as a DM. Can someone give me the down-low on this baddie?

A Meazel! Awesome. Can't wait to buy the pack! 2011 is off to a great start for Otherworld!

Fantastic! I have one of the old Citadel one, along with the Xvart,Snyad and Mite.Excellent choice of monster and a definate purchase. :D

Nice, the Meazel is one of the better FF monsters.
They are said to be solitary (no. encountered = 1), although even one of the FF illustrations shows several ambushing a party. Do we get sword, rope, and bare hand variations?

How about sword, rope and dagger & swag bag? ;)

I've often had Meazels attack in groups. One or two attack from the front with sounds and clatter while another, or others slip out of hiding behind the party and garote the poor rear guard.
Three is a nice number to make for DM use in my humble opinion.
Jake B - February 24, 2011 10:58 PM (GMT)
Yes, based on that FF picture I can imagine that each meazel lives in its own den with its own stash of stolen stuff, but several could stalk the party at once. It could make it that much harder for a party to retrieve stolen items or slain comrades if they are hidden in different places.
(And if the point man says he sees only one in front, the character in the rear had better start telling the DM he's scanning behind him.)
