Title: UD4a - Demi-human Zombies I (3)
Otherworld - November 15, 2010 01:52 PM (GMT)
I just received the 2nd & 3rd figures for the set, which will be off to the casters in the next day or 2. Here are pics of the Elf and Halfling Zombies, to go with the Dwarf which Matt sculpted a couple of months ago.

The elf is 23mm to the eyes, the halfling 18mm.

Can't make out the elf at all, has it lost its arms or is it pointing?

I like them. I like them a lot - hopefully there will be a few more demi humans later on.
Have some minor issues with the elf, perhaps. He looks small being an elf - and a little bit out of scale next to the dwarf. But not a major problem for me - will definitely have to buy these.

You got to keep in mind, that this is an AD%D Elf, only 5'+ tall and fragile, while stocky and muscular build Dwarfs are 4'+ tall.
Have I already mentioned that I don't like Elves?

The halflings stance suggests he is a bit puzzled by his state, I like it. Is the elf trying to cast a spell?
Seen the dwarf before and like it too.

I too am a fan of the halfling, he seems to be looking to the Elf for advice.
Clearly Richard needs a Zombified Gandalf too before Zombies and Lord of the Rings stop being cool!

I threw a grid up on the pic and calculated that if the Halfling is 40" tall (the average for an AD&D Halfling) then the Dwarf is the massive fellow at 51" and the Elf has lost some height as an undead and comes in at only 52".
And yes calculating out leg position to standing scale shows that I am a scale freak when it comes to minis.

I actually did take that into account :D Do know that AD&D elves are rather small compared to say WfB ones.
The elf being 23mm to the eye will probably turn him into a perfect 5' elf (using a standard 5mm = 1') - but its the dwarf then ;) He looks more 4½' or so. I just compare them to my Citadel ADDs where my elves are 5-6mm higher then my dwarfs - and just assumed - that it was the elf that's slightly 'out of scale'.
But looking at my dwarfs I'll say that they are just 20mm to the top of their heads. This dwarf looks a lot more like 21-22mm to the eye - so much more like a 'modern' hero scale then an old school classic dwarf.
But back to the beginning - it's not that big a deal for me. Like them all - and will buy them.
