Title: UD7 - Wights
Otherworld - July 13, 2010 08:34 PM (GMT)
Here's a shot of the first of a pair of new Wights which Paul Muller is working on. He's not quite complete yet, but we should see some rapid progress over the next few days. I hope that both will be finished within a week.

YES! This is what I've been waiting for! I LOVE IT!

Absolutely one of his best minis. Looks every bit as greasy and foul as it should. Great mini. Love it.
Jake B - July 14, 2010 04:33 AM (GMT)
I love that face. It's not just hungry, it's enraged by the living.
Cthulhu - July 14, 2010 11:00 AM (GMT)
Wight on!
Ahem.
Best Wight ever done, hands down.
Cthulhu - July 14, 2010 11:06 AM (GMT)
Consider making one of them in armour if these do well.

At least this one has pants... well... sort of...
Incendiary Pig - July 15, 2010 06:42 AM (GMT)
Yes, that is very nice. I am looking forward to this undead range expanding. Cannot wait for the ghouls to be ready as well. Pants or no pants...does not bother me.
SeymourGlass - July 15, 2010 08:06 AM (GMT)
The miniature above appears to be the wight from the Monster Manual, which had a loincloth.
I guess the following classic illustration adds to the idea that loincloths are popular among wights.

The guy on the right is so bummed, he just lost a level and is going down in disgusting, scummy water.
Elysium - July 15, 2010 05:19 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing that illustration was drawn that way due to Victorian sensibilities more than anything else.
khalehafork - July 15, 2010 07:33 PM (GMT)
Haha Seymour. That dude is totally bummed.
Im glad Wights are at least half way descent in one respect...
Ceowald - July 16, 2010 06:11 AM (GMT)
Great sculpt! Can't wait to paint that!
zhu bajie - July 16, 2010 10:30 AM (GMT)
Wow! that face and the claw-hands are excellent.

Here's Wight #2, also pretty close to completion. I hope to have a shot of the 2 together later, and I'll probably get my hands on the greens by the middle of next week.
Clyde Speaks - July 17, 2010 05:02 PM (GMT)
Wow, I really like that second version. Reaching out with his oh so deadly hand. The last level I took from a player was with a wight (I actually got two levels from the same player, ouch). Nasty low level creatures.
Great figs!

#appearing 2-16
I haven't even got them yet and I want more variants.
SeymourGlass - July 17, 2010 06:46 PM (GMT)
I actually was going to post that the only thing I don't like about them is that there's only two. I just didn't want to sound like I was complaining. These are two of my favorite Otherwold minis for sure.
marjasall - July 24, 2010 02:26 AM (GMT)
The first one looks like it was fashioned after a Wight that Grenadier produced in the 80s - the hair, fur cape, and the pose are almost identical. I think the Grenadier version is holding a bone in one hand, though.
These are very nice. Excellent sculpts!
SeymourGlass - July 24, 2010 08:38 AM (GMT)
The Grenadier one is heavily inspired by the Monster Manual, all the way down to the skull and bone on the ground. I'd guess Otherworld's is based on the same illustration.
marjasall - August 10, 2010 12:33 AM (GMT)
I looked at my Grenadier version, and you are correct... bone is not in the hand, but on the ground as you say. I was mistaken. The pointing Wight looks particularly angry at me. :P
