I love these little critters.

Have a pack one twice and each of the others. And thinking I need more.

Finding a little tough with keeping the arms / weapons attached so decided to "pin" them which is also a little tough but thinking it will be better to go this route with them.

But yes awesome JOB on these little critters.

Hi Sean,
I'm glad you like them - I really enjoyed making them! Sorry about the joints - at that thickness it is difficult to make a decent peg and socket joint, so I opted for cuts on the greens that would allow simple assembly and superglue without the need for too much pin action!
the difficulty is getting a nice pose that will cast well balanced with not making the model in too many parts.
cheers!
J.

Yeah, I had some difficulty getting these guys together too. I did not want to have to buy any new pinning equipment (all I had on hand was a 3/64 bit which is too large) so I opted to assemble them with superglue and forbid my clumsy as hell gamers to touch them.

I would like to see you sculpt some bullywugs. I think you would do well with them.

Richard has some interesting ideas for what ihe would like next - sadly there was no Bullywug on the list - he seems open to suggestions, so ask away! I love the early illustrations in those books - they have a real charm, and just have something about them that seems have have been lost through the years. to me, it's a bit like looking at the old Hildebrandt LOTR illustrations, and then looking at Alan Lee's work.
Alan Lee's work is astounding, but doesn't evoke that same feeling in me, despite how ridiculous the costumes of the Hildebrandt characters are!

and those Bullywugs are absolutely crackers!

A little thread-o-mancy - i know ;)

But for those interested in John's works this might be usefull to you.

I'm building up a Pickford Sculpt-o-graphy - and John has been more than helpful.

And should you have anything willing to share (like unpainted Foundry miniatures etc) - just contact me here or email me. Email can be found in my google profile (at blogger)
