Hannibal grinned at the image in the rearview mirror of Fulbright’s car slowly sinking into the river as the MPs scrambled to get out. When the MPs were no longer visible he looked over at BA, who growled.

“Fulbright looks good as a drowned rat,” Hannibal chuckled, pulling a cigar out of his jacket and lighting it. “Don’t ya think?”

The sergeant looked at him like he was off his rocker, then returned his concentration to driving the van.

“We could have been arrested, Hannibal!” Face pointed out, irritated.

“But we weren’t,” he retorted, smile secured in place.

Face sighed resignedly; there was no way to win this one. “Still,” he began, “maybe it’d be a good idea for us to lay low for a while, Colonel?”

“Good idea, Face,” he agreed with a little too much enthusiasm. He gestured to a small sign a little ways up the road that read: ‘Cedar Falls.’ “There, BA.”

“What?” Murdock exclaimed in disbelief. “Colonel, we just lost Fulbright and his goons a couple of miles back.”

“Right,” he agreed, pulling the cigar out of his mouth. “And the last place he’d think we’d stay is right under his nose; it’s perfect!” His eyes were lit with all the excitement of a child waking up on Christmas morning.

“Aw, Hannibal,” BA groaned as he turned onto the road to Cedar Falls.
