Appearance:
When not on duty, Fiori’s Holder roots are obvious. She wears dresses and skirts, and can count on her hands the number of times she’s worn pants when not intent on entering the water. Like most Pernese, she enjoys colors, having never found a color she didn’t like. However, with little pocket money, this love of colors is only accounted for in her embroidery and hemlines: the cloth that she makes her dresses and skirts out of is plain, but all of her threads are bright and cheerful.

Her Dolphineering swimsuit doesn’t reflect her personal tastes, looking, fitting, and acting just as any other Dolphineer’s suit would.

Fiori is the tallest female in her family, standing at 5’10, slim and supple from her turns as a Dolphineer apprentice. Her hair, once long, luxurious, and deep brown is now just long enough to be tied back, frizzy from all of it’s time in the water, and has lightened considerably from sun exposure. Her skin is darkly tan, with freckles running all over. Any part of skin not generally exposed by her swim suit is exceedingly pale, and the contrast is fairly startling. Her eyes are brown, and the skin surrounding them are developing premature squint lines. She looks, at best, eight turns older than she is. At worst, she looks close to her mid thirties. Her skin is almost always too dry, and she drinks a copious amount of water. Her eyes are also often reddened from the salt water.

Personality:
Fiori is the fourth daughter in a Holder family, and the least family oriented one of them all, Fiori nonetheless has all of the normal Holder holdups, and beliefs. The famed ‘loose morals’ of the Weyr, the relationships between two men, or two women that are whispered about at night in the Crafthall, the idea of girls riding Fighting Dragons and risking their lives, and the even more hushed topic of ‘Quick Trips Between’, all combined into a girl who isn’t sure if she’s being honored or dishonored by being sent to a Weyr.

Fiori is a girl delighted by gossip, intrigue, and while she’s matured slightly, and knows now when to keep her nose out of other people’s business, she hasn’t grown out of her love of gossip.

She’s friendly, but slightly introverted, more so with men than women. And while she’ll correct a woman who is doing something wrong, she has a much harder time of it with men.

Canines, Felines, and Runners aren’t creatures that Fiori is interested in. She simply doesn’t understand why people would want to spent time with creatures that don’t understand you. She feels the same way about children: even her own nieces and nephews. They serve important functions, yes, but give her a Dolphin, Dragon, or even a Flitt over them anytime. Her wish(so soon to be granted!) for a Dolphin partner is one all consuming, especially since she has yet to ever feel an attraction to a man.

She’s a good friend, but perhaps not the best one to trust with a secret; she’ll try to keep it, honest, but it just might slip out. However, if you need to be quizzed on Dolphineering information, there is no one better.

Biography:
Her family was a fairly well off Holder family. But not well enough off to offer five dowries for five daughters over a very short period of time. And so it was that Fiori, second youngest of five, was the one picked to go to the crafthalls. Born in the Southern Continent, there were four acceptable crafts for the tall girl to go into: Healing, Harpering, Dolphineering and Beastcrafting. With no aptitude for Healing, no voice for Harpering, and no like of most animals, Dolphineering was the obvious choice.

Entering the Hall a little later than most, at age thirteen, Fiori nevertheless made friends, studied hard, and enjoyed her time as an apprentice. True, she never had crushes on the male apprentices, and was said to cling a little to tightly to her best friend, a girl named Vidra, and never really got used to wearing pants, but she excelled, and fell in love with all of the Dolphins who she trained with.

When she finally walked the tables as a Journeyman, and was transferred to Occalli Weyr, Fiori was struck with a sense of fear and the most intense joy she’s ever experienced. She would now be partnered with her very own Dolphin, but she would be traveling to a new place, one that had the strangest things whispered about it. However, she wasn’t about to turn down her placement- and Dolphin, and thus, she has arrived, and has given up worrying about the future. For now at least.
