I think that a likely origin of Rikti is a close encounter of an M-brane rather then they bother to travel several lightyears. If another M-brane happen to be close to ours, or if we live in a "wrinkle" of our own, the Rikti wouldn't have to travel that long.

Is there already another explanation for the origins of Rikti, or is the M-brane scenario a good idea for a story?
