Hi all,
I have a few tips rattling around in my head, and plan to post them in this thread. If you have any handy tips for our hatchlings post them here! G |

Get an expanded prompt, such as this one:
prompt &WH:&R%h/%H &WM:&B%v/%V &WVIS:&P[&p%A&P] &WTime:&P[&p%T&P]&g Use color in your description and bio to enchance it. For example, here is Primax' description: |

* Make sure you stay hidden, unless there's a good IC reason not to be. Outside the home areas for either pack, the predators are aggro - meaning that they can and will attack you just for being in the same room with them, if you're around the same level.
* Keep an eye on your health and don't be afraid to cut and run if you're doing badly against a mob; you can go back and beat them up after you're healed, after all. * Keep some food on you at all times. Remember where an easy-to-find water source is. Hunger and thirst kill, too - it just takes longer than with a mob. * Always consider someone you're thinking about attacking, first. If the message returned is something like 'Razer would be a great teacher for you! Razer looks significantly stronger than you!', then it's a bad idea to attack them. Especially if they're a player; mobs don't remember you, once the aggro's worn off, after all. Players do remember and they're not going to like being attacked by hatchlings. * Remember where you are and act appropriately. Duskfalls shouldn't be welcoming Redclaws into the Log Pile - nor should Redclaws be showing Duskfalls around the Briar Pyramid. The Oasis is neutral territory. * Have a prompt. Keep an eye on it. * Try to avoid going idle; your character is still active while you're logged in - which means that they can get thirsty, hungry, and be attacked if their hide ability wears off. * Don't attack people who're afk or idle. Golden Rule here, after all: you wouldn't want them to do it to you, after all, would you? |

* Set your 'wimpy'. Yes, it sounds horrible. Yes, you don't want to be considered a 'wimp' - but your 'wimpy' is a bit of code that makes you run away when your HP hits 20% or less than your total.
Once it's set, remember to update it every couple of levels. If you feel the need to, go ahead and increase it to a point where it'll have a good lead time even if you're generating a fair bit of command-lag for yourself because of combat. It's kind of embarrassing to realize that you could've avoided getting stunned and losing several thousand XP because of that triceratops, if you'd just made sure that your wimpy was set to make you run at 50 HP, rather than the 22 it was set to. |

Hunt Together! For gods sake don't go out alone if you don't have to, there is a better chance of survival in numbers. You ARE a pack animal after all so act like it. Make sure you have the bigger of the group tank, the leader is usually the one who tanks but it is possible to have someone else in the group do that if they have better defense. The lower your defense rating the better defense you have.
