Not expecting Nightwing to win this fight and if he does it won't at all be cleanly. I don't remember a time Lady Shiva has been beaten cleanly in the past 15 years. However, it won't bother me as long as he's not beat on for two issues straight. I want to see him beat on her enough to foil whatever she's up to so she can become a recurring villain for this book. Nightwing going toe to toe with Shiva and giving her a fight will only build his street cred.

I have to agree, and I really, really like the fact that Nightwing is being used to reintroduce such a formidable villain.
I only hope this isn't going to be the "wolverine effect." Meaning, they beat up on Nightwing only to show how tough the villain is, then someone else takes down the villain. This happens to Wolverine all the time. Villains beat on him because Wolverine is supposed to be so tough. |

Exactly, Will. As long as he doesn't get beat up for two issues straight and his "victory" isn't him just surviving, I'll be able to accept it. I'd hope for something along the lines of Nightwing #18 where he actually fought Slade pretty well, foiled his plans, and escaped fairly easily. That would be a good victory against Lady Shiva for me. Seeing how it's two issues long, I wouldn't mind seeing him lose round 1 (#13), but bounce back in round 2(#14) to make the fight pretty much a wash and give Shiva reason to develop a grudge against Nightwing.

I expect you guys to tell me all about Lady Shiva. She's second to none, and I to this day thoroughly love the moment she whacks Nightwing but he doesn't show his pain until she's gone (Who Rules The Night maybe?).
